Changes to Library Services
The Library has made a number of changes to provide you with better service during your visit.
New service desk in the Information Centre
A single, more conveniently located service desk is now at the Library's entrance in the Information Centre. Staff at this desk can help you with any information inquiries, from directions and registration to assistance with your research.
More staff where you need us
Library staff are now spending more time moving through the reading rooms to give you assistance. Please ask us the staff for help whenever you need to. If a service desk in the Library is unattended, talk to any of the staff in the room or visit the Information Centre desk.
A single book collection point
All ordered items can now be collected from the Information Centre (apart from rare and valuable items that are available through the Heritage Collections Reading Room). The collection point in the La Trobe Reading Room no longer operates. If you are in doubt, the pick up location is noted on each catalogue record when you request an item.
Extended Victorian chat service
You can get online assistance from a Victorian librarian from 10 am to 6pm every weekday. Visit the Chat with a Victorian Librarian page from home or the Library.
Testing a new communications system
Library staff are trying out new wireless communication badges to help them communicate better across the large site and get the right assistance to you as quickly as possible, wherever you are in the building.
Your feedback
Please tell us what you think about these service changes by completing a feedback form on your visit or using the online feedback form.
