Information for Teachers & their Students

Students studying

School group in Cowen Gallery

There is a great deal of useful information on this website to interest teachers and their students, including descriptions of the various programs and services available at the State Library.

Throughout the year the Library offers a range of professional development programs for teachers, librarians and literacy professionals. The Library also offers individually tailored professional development programs for groups which demonstrate the Library's collections, services and facilities.

Teachers who are interested in developing strategies for enthusing and encouraging young people to read effectively and with pleasure may be interested in accessing the Library's consultancy services which are delivered by experts on a fee-for-service basis.

The State Library also provides a range of programs for school students. These include events aimed at encouraging reading among young people, tours and workshops and curriculum-based programs that look at history and the arts the Library's collections.

Both the Centre for Youth Literature and the Library's Education Team produce newsletters with invaluable information for teachers and teacher-librarians.
