(01-18) 23:09 PST -- Tom Cable, let go by the Raiders on Jan. 4, will return to his native Pacific Northwest to be assistant head coach under Pete Carroll and to work with Seattle's offensive line.

Cable played% high school football in Snohomish, north of Seattle, and his college coaching resume includes a four-year stint as head man at Idaho.

Other Seahawks moves Tuesday included the firing of offensive coordinator Jeremy Bates.

Now Cable's focus will be on improving an offensive line that was a major deficiency Bates had to deal with all season. Seattle ranked 28th in the league in yards per game and 23rd in scoring.
