Atelier at Robindira Unsworth

Atelier at Robindira Unsworth

Robindira Unsworth's jewelry has always drawn inspiration from the designer's world travels, but with the opening of a tiny atelier alongside her downtown Petaluma studio, she's gathered all her finds in one place.

"It seemed like a great time to open up our space to other designers that we love and people that we pick up on our travels that are special and unique," she says. From Blur leather's Italian jackets and Calleen Cordero's "gorgeous" studded bags and shoes that she can't keep in stock to $25 scarves, "there's really something in every price range." That includes her jewelry lines and limited-edition items and her new Bougie Aromatique soy candle line ($45) named for iconic destinations - Marrakech, Capri and Ibiza.

"The constant will definitely be the jewelry and the candles," Unsworth says. "But I'm always searching for new lines that I think are exciting."

LUNA

It's now possible to plan a midday escape while getting your retail shopping fix at the same time, thanks to the 800-square-foot garden hiding behind new Presidio Heights boutique Luna. Named after owner and San Francisco native Christina Spaulding's rescue pooch, the shop puts the emphasis on classic women's sportswear with subtle flair. "I like simple, comfortable clothes that have a small detail on them that makes them unique or edgy," Spaulding says. To that end, the retail architect stocks the shop with a mixture of established and emerging labels befitting her taste, among them Velvet, Repetto and Prairie Underground. Shoppers will also find local labels such as Turk + Taylor and Clary Sage Organics and jewelry by Circadian Studios and Ingrid Wheeler in the lilac-walled space, designed by Spaulding and punctuated with raw steel fixtures and wood tables. Through French doors, a garden planted with rosemary, rhododendrons and azaleas invites guests to relax mid-visit on cushioned teak furnishings.

GIGI + ROSE

After five years in North Beach operating the boutique that shared the name of her label, Delilah Crown, local designer Kristina De Pizzol has embarked on a new Ghirardelli Square venture brimming with feminine day dresses, travel-inspired accessories, lighthearted gift items and children's clothing and toys ($5-$250) selected with the help of the shop's resident expert, De Pizzol's 3 1/2-year-old daughter, Gigi.

"She helped me pick everything out," says De Pizzol, who named the shop after Gigi and her younger daughter, 6-month-old Rose.

With parasols hanging overhead, the shop, whose entrance is on Beach Street, balances tourist-friendly guidebooks and leather passport cases with De Pizzol's silk-screened and hand-appliqued wall art ($40-$98), Roost glassware, Austin Press letterpress cards, Voluspa candles and Lothantique bath products.

"It's supposed to be a very happy space that appeals to everyone, very whimsical and accessible," says De Pizzol.
