Don't believe Brett Favre is finally done?

Well, the NFL's all-time leader of almost every major passing mark at least has filled out the forms.

Favre has made another move toward leaving the game for good by filing retirement papers with the league, NFL spokesman Greg Aiello confirmed Monday.

This is merely a procedural matter, to start the clock on a player's pension and Hall of Fame eligibility. It's worth noting, too, that Favre has done this before, only to change his mind. Retired players can request to be reinstated at any time.

Briefly: Offensive coordinator Mike McCoy and running backs coach Eric Studesville will return to the Broncos under new head coach John Fox. ... The Dolphins are expected to hire Browns offensive coordinator Brian Daboll in the same position. ... Panthers head coach Ron Rivera will hire Sean McDermott, fired by the Eagles, as defensive coordinator. ... The Jets' upset of the Patriots drew the highest preliminary TV rating for a divisional playoff game in 14 years.
