Parolee is IDd as San Leandro shooting victim

(01-18) 12:02 PST SAN LEANDRO -- A man shot and killed in San Leandro was identified today as 24-year-old Roy Benson.

Benson, a parolee with drug and weapons convictions, was shot on the 14800 block of East 14th Street at about 3:10 a.m. Monday, police Lt. Jeff Tudor said. Benson, a San Leandro resident, died at the scene.

Officers found a second man two blocks away with a bullet hole through the hood of his sweatshirt. That man, a 21-year-old cousin of Benson's, ran from the scene after the shooting and was not injured, Tudor said. His name was withheld.

No arrests have been made.
