Lady Gaga moves magazines; Snooki shades and slippers

Catching up on some of the past week's biggest style stories:

  • It's official: Lady Gaga sells magazines. No surprise, an almost naked machine-gun-wielding Gaga on the cover of Rolling Stone was the top seller for the magazine. (WWD)

  • Actress Bryce Dallas Howard will be cavorting about for Kate Spade in the brand's new spring ad campaign.(WWD)

  • What will Blair think? "Gossip Girl's" Blake Lively is the new face of Chanel Mademoiselle handbags, with print ads hitting this spring. The fortuitous meeting of Lively and Lagerfeld was made possible by none other than Vogue's Anna Wintour. (New York)

  • As if being a published "author" wasn't enough "Jersey Shore's" Snooki will now have her hands in sunglasses and fuzzy slippers through a new licensing agreement.(New York)

  • The People's Choice Awards this week didn't offer much of a red carpet preview except we can plan to see the expectant Natalie Portman in an ever-changing array of loose, flowy dresses as she makes her way around awards season in the coming weeks.(People)

  • Emmanuelle Alt was named the new editor of French Vogue, replacing Carine Roitfeld who leaves the publication on February 1st. As current Fashion Director at the magazine, Alt was thought of as the obvious choice.(NYT)

  • Hearst is officially American Elle magazine's new boss. No word on what this means for the publication and its free-and-easy reality show mindset. (Styleite)

  • The Sartorialist's Scott Schuman shows us how he gets the perfect shot. (Fashionologie)

  • The Hermes family has managed to protect themselves from an impending LVMH takeover through a new holding company. (Bloomberg)

  • CoverGirl celebrated its 50th anniversary in West Hollywood with its own breezy girls Drew Barrymore, Ellen DeGeneres and Queen Latifah. (LA Times)
