Perplexing Palin retweet on Don't Ask Don't Tell

Sarah Palin's recent retweet of a comment from a conservative gay commentator is leaving some on the right (and left) scratching their heads.

"But this hypocrisy is just truly too much. Enuf already-the more someone complains about the homos the more we should look under their bed," tweeted Tammy Bruce, whose comment was then retweeted by @SarahPalinUSA

Palin's perplexing message was first picked up on by Gawker:

"The idea [behind Bruce's tweet] being, one imagines, that those who are most vocally anti-gay are the people who are most likely to be gay themselves, or at least to have, like, gay stuff "under their bed." Not the most original observation in the world, no-but look who apparently agrees with it!"

Gawker's Max Read goes to to offer explanations as to why Palin would have retweeted this message:

"Bruce thinks that Palin is expressing her point of view on "DADT, treatment of gays & attempts to marginalize us." Which isn't out of the question-Palin is not, in the context of her party, rabidly homophobic, and her stance on Don't Ask Don't Tell was limited to a sort of feeble "not right now" back in February. So, yes, maybe reality ungulate-shooter Sarah Palin is expressing her solidarity with gay soldier-types via microblogging. What a blow for the forces of freedom and openness!"

In reality, the more likely explanation is she didn't understand what in the hell Bruce was talking about.

Enuf already.
