Second annual Naughty-or-Nice photo contest winners!

Every time I decide to throw a party, I worry that no one will show up. From the moment the invitations go out, I am a complete stress case, obsessively checking my email for RSVPs until the first guest rings the doorbell — usually at least two hours late.

For me, organizing a contest is no different. Even if they've been a hit in the past, I am convinced that not a soul will enter. Well, lucky for me you did. And after sifting through more than 240 photos, I'm ready to declare this year's Naughty-or-Nice winners.

As always, I've chosen a few honorable mentions to kick things off:

Although I can only assume that this photo is meant as a joke (no caption was submitted), it's not a far cry from what many of us might fantasize about doing with our pets when they've been especially naughty. (But, of course we never actually would.)

Most of us spend WAY too much time in front of the computer. I love Jasper's way of grabbing his person's attention. Who needed those boring, old files anyway?

This was by far one of my "destruction category" faves. According to "luchito," the chairs were meant to save the couch, but nothing could stop the force of Hurricane Naia. (It looks like some crate training is in order ASAP!) The dog's defiant and forlorn expression says it all.

In this gravity-defying entry, Dusty shows his devotion by hanging on the doorknob when anyone leaves the house. The question is, for how long?

Whoa Bodhi, that's quite a paw! One can only begin to imagine the potential for destruction contained in those sharp little claws.

I admire the ingenuity of this puddle-loving pooch. Not just any dog could pull off his own private mud bath. How relaxing!

Bailey, once a white, fluffy canine companion, is clearly not afraid to get dirty.

This photo was in my top four, before getting bumped to fifth place at the eleventh hour. The caption reads: "Storm E. was still a kitten and biting so I put him outside of my home office and closed the door. Time-out! He couldn't stand being on the other side." Too sweet.

Now for my three picks for runners up who will each receive a $50 Pet Food Express gift card:

I've never awarded a guinea pig a prize in any of my contests, and after nearly three years of writing this blog, I decided that it was time. Forget rabbits. I officially declare 2011 the Year of the GP. Way to go Rowan!

Rowan is a guinea pig. Rowan is nice. Rowan eats his fruits and vegetables. Always.

The balance between naughty and nice in this idyllic shot is spot on. How I do love to root for the underdog, who appears to have secured his place on top (despite those sharp teeth).

This is a beautiful shot all around and perfectly captures the kitten's dainty attempts at some holiday reorganizing.

Setting up for Christmas is impossible with my kitten around.

Finally, here we are. Another year gone by. Another grand prize winner. My favorite photo in the second annual Naughty-or-Nice contest is....

Li'l Angel.

"Halo" by doctoro

Li'l Angel.

I love, LOVE the lighting in this photo and the way that it is framed. Although the pup pictured is as angelic as can be, there's a twinkle of mischief in her eyes that makes me think this whole "nice" thing is just a temporary state of mind.

Congratulations to "doctoro" for your winning photo! Enjoy your new Neato robotic vacuum and year's supply of filters. Here's to a fur-free home in 2011!

A big thanks to everyone who showed up to my Naughty-or-Nice photo "party." You can check out all of the fabulous entries here in the "Naughty-or-Nice" gallery.
