Play Epic games, unlock items in Gears of War 3

Gears of War 3 will have an unlock system that awards items to people who have played other Epic games, the studio has revealed.

Design Director Cliff Bleszinski shared the news in a Tweet this evening, although rather conveniently that means there weren't enough characters to go into detail.

But it's clear that players of this months' cover game, Bulletstorm, last year's XBLA hit Shadow Complex, and the almost entirely forgotten Unreal Tournament 3 will have new stuff in Gears 3. We forsee a sudden interest in pre-owned copies of the latter on eBay, particularly now that publisher Midway is no more.

Wonder if this is something that they've been able to add from that newly expanded development time?
