Spears Lands Restraining Order Against Lutfi and Ghalib

Britney Spears has reportedly secured a restraining order to protect her from her former manager Sam Lutfi and ex-boyfriend Adnan Ghalib.

The singer sent her lawyers to a California courthouse on Friday to petition for the order, after telling her conservators -- who include her father Jamie -- she was afraid of them both, according to TMZ.com.

The Web site's sources claim the move was prompted by Lutfi's attempted legal attack on the conservatorship, which Britney has now been permanently placed under following a series of public meltdowns.

It's the second time Spears has sought a restraining order against Lutfi, who many blame for the series of emotional crises that lead to her losing custody of her two sons with Kevin Federline.

Spears dated paparazzo Ghalib after her split from Federline. Hollywood gossips recently suggested the pair were still in contact and that she had even written a new song about him, claims she subsequently denied.

The move comes just weeks before Spears seals her music comeback with a tour, that kicks off in New Orleans, La., in March.

Spears To Release Autobiography?

Britney Spears is planning to tell all about her colorful life. The singer is reportedly set to sign a $14 million publishing deal.

The 27-year-old first stepped into the spotlight on "The New Mickey Mouse Club" in 1992, before launching a solo career and becoming one of the most famous singers on the planet.

And now she is close to detailing her rise to stardom and recent troubles after landing a multi-million-dollar book deal to write her memoirs, according to the Daily Mirror.

A source tells the newspaper, "There have been numerous unofficial autobiographies about Britney, but she's never agreed to pen her own tome -- until now.

"And some of the stories she's got are absolute dynamite. She's kept diaries, so there's nothing she'll leave out unless she wants to. If the deal goes ahead she will write three and five books throughout the next decade -- it's one of the most lucrative book deals in showbiz history."

Spears' Permanent Conservatorship Official

Britney Spears' dad Jamie has officially been handed legal and permanent conservatorship over the singer's estate almost a year after he was first put in charge of his daughter's affairs.

Jamie Spears was made a co-conservator of his daughter's legal, financial and personal dealings in February following a public breakdown in which the singer was entered into hospital to undergo a mental evaluation.

The elder Spears and lawyer Andrew Wallet stayed on as co-conservators throughout the remainder of the year, overseeing the "Toxic" superstar's every move, including plans for her forthcoming Circus tour.

In October, a Los Angeles judge made Jamie Spears' control of his daughter's estate and wealth permanent, and in December he was provided with a pay raise from $10,000 to $16,000 a month.

And on Monday, court papers were filed in L.A. Superior Court to make the conservatorship legally official, stating that the star "is substantially unable to manage ... her financial resources or to resist fraud or undue influence."

According to "Access Hollywood," the documents also state that Jamie Spears will have full power, even over who visits and befriends his daughter, saying that he has "the power to restrict and limit visitors by any means."

Spears' Nail-Biting Resolution

Britney Spears is determined to stick to her New Year resolution -- she wants to quit chewing her fingernails in 2009.

The "Womanizer" superstar hates biting her nails, and longs for manicured and attractive hands.

But the singer insists there is a valid reason her dirty habit: She can't stop worrying.

She says, "Next year, I have to learn to stop biting my nails! I would like to stop worrying so much, because I worry all the time. And to learn how to be happier, just in general. I have to learn to take things not so seriously."

But Spears doesn't hold out much hope of sticking to her 2009 promise, because she's never kept a resolution yet.

She adds, "I end up breaking them. It's hard."

Spears Acts Swiftly To Deny Dating Madden

Britney Spears' publicist has hit back at reports the singer is dating rocker Benji Madden.

The pop star was said to have grown close to the Good Charlotte rocker after they were introduced to each other by her manager Larry Rudolph, who has been helping her to find a new suitor, according to tabloid reports.

In Touch Weekly magazine reported the pair shared dinner at a Los Angeles hotel, and have seen each other several times since, with an unnamed source adding, "They've been on a few dates. She appears to like Benji a lot, and he seems to really like her."

But Spears' publicist Holly Shakoor has rubbished the reports.

She tells E! News: "The claims made by In Touch are completely false. There is not an ounce of truth to any of it."

Madden split from socialite Paris Hilton last month after a nine-month relationship.

Britney Spears could be set to trump hotel heiress Paris Hilton -- she is reportedly dating the socialite's ex, Benji Madden.

Spears is said to have grown close to the Good Charlotte rocker after they were introduced to each other by Spears' manager Larry Rudolph following Madden's break up with Hilton, according to reports.

Spears Kept Cowell Waiting

Music mogul Simon Cowell was treated like a schoolboy as he waited to meet Britney Spears on the set of his British talent show "The X Factor," according to fellow judge Dannii Minogue.

The singer made a much-criticized appearance on the reality show last month, but it didn't stop the judges clamoring to meet her.

And Minogue reveals how the singer's entourage ensured Spears was left alone until she was ready to meet them, and had them lining up like youngsters waiting for class.

She says, "It was hysterical. We were all like little kids at the principal's office. There were so many security guards and PR people and they had to block the whole corridor before she could come out the door."

But Minogue has blasted the 27-year-old for not meeting the contestants competing on the show.

She adds, "They were genuinely excited to be in her presence and she only had to say 'Hi' to five acts. At that point, I thought, 'What a shame because you've just crushed those contestants.' She didn't have to be like that."

Federline Was Concerned About Kids' Safety

Kevin Federline feared for his sons' safety when his ex-wife Britney Spears went into meltdown earlier this year.

Spears was hospitalized for psychiatric assessment in January after she reportedly refused to hand over Sean Preston, 3, and Jayden James, 2, following a supervised visit.

Spears was in the middle of a bitter custody battle with Federline at the time of the incident, and he confesses he was worried about his children when she hit her "lowest points."

He tells Hello!, "Yes, I was a bit concerned. In my heart, I never felt she'd ever do anything wrong to the children. But some of her lowest points were my lowest points, too. It has been tough for me to go through all this at the same time."

Describing the moment he saw Spears being carried away on a stretcher, Federline adds: "That's one of my lowest points right there. It was stressful. But we're all through it now."

And Federline is convinced his and Britney's problems were made even worse because their marriage was in the public eye.

He says, "It's tough. It definitely doesn't make it any easier. But when we were together, we had each other to rely on. And we had lots of moments together that ... well, people don't know what goes on behind closed doors. We had a bit of private life."

Spears' First Husband In Jail

Britney Spears' first husband is behind bars in Los Angeles, serving a 10-day sentence for drunk driving.

Jason Alexander, who was married to Spears for just 55 hours at the beginning of 2004, was sentenced to jail time after failing to complete a court-ordered alcohol rehabilitation program for a 2006 DUI arrest, according to Star magazine.

The prison term comes a day after Alexander's ex-wife celebrated her 27th birthday and released her comeback album, "Circus," which in on course to top the charts in the U.S. next week.

Spears Working Hard For Fit Body

Pop superstar Britney Spears loves her new slender figure, but admits she hates working out to stay in shape.

Spears, 27, has been wowing European fans on a recent mini-tour with her toned body and frantic dance routines.

She insists it has taken a huge effort to get back into shape following the births of sons Sean Preston, 3, and Jayden James, 2.

And Spears confesses she hates hitting the gym, and rarely gets a chance nowadays thanks to her music.

She tells Glamour magazine, "I have had to work hard at getting (my body) back to where it used to be. I used to be obsessed with working out. But I can't get motivated right now because I'm so focused on my music.

"It isn't fun, so to do it every day would be horrible. Three days a week is cool, even two. It makes me feel good and feel like I've done something. It's important to take care of your body.

"Recently I started to appreciate my body a bit more from before I had kids."
