Richie's pride over new grandchild

Lionel Richie can't contain his happiness when asked about his growing family -- he has spoken of his pride in his daughter Nicole's latest offspring.

The socialite and boyfriend Joel Madden welcomed son Sparrow James Midnight Madden on Wednesday. The newborn is the pair's second child -- they welcomed daughter Harlow Winter last year.

And the new addition has made the star's singing legend father burst with joy, because he's never seen his daughter happier.

He tells People.com, "I am so proud of Nicole and Joel. (Nicole) is the happiest woman ever. She is just in total control. I'm the one that's nervous!

"He looks just like Harlow. All babies sort of look the same as their siblings, but this is identical."

"Bones" actor David Boreanaz is a dad for the second time -- his actress wife Jamie Bergman has given birth to a baby girl.

Bergman, 33, delivered the couple's first daughter, Bardot Vita Boreanaz, on Monday, a little sister to their 7-year-old son Jaden Rayne.

The delivery is a relief to the 40-year-old TV star, who has remained close to home since Bergman was placed on bed-rest in the weeks leading up to her labor.

Just last month, the actor told People.com, "I must maintain a 20-mile radius. I cannot travel beyond that. If I do, I'll freak out -- I have to be there when the baby comes."

The couple married in 2001.

Oscar-winner Jennifer Hudson has given birth to a baby boy, according to a report.

The singer/actress and her fiance David Otunga welcomed David Daniel Otunga Jr. on Monday night, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The baby is the couple's first.

Hudson never confirmed her pregnancy news, but reportedly threw a baby shower at a relative's Chicago, Ill., home in May and then appeared at Michael Jackson's Los Angeles memorial concert sporting a big baby bump in July.

The baby's birth will mark a fresh start for Hudson following the brutal murders of her mother, brother and nephew in her native Chicago last October.

William Balfour, the estranged husband of Hudson's sister Julia, has pleaded not guilty to charges of first degree murder and home invasion.

Beatrice McCartney begins vegetarian campaigning

Sir Paul McCartney's young daughter is beginning her vegetarian campaigning career early -- she was shunned by fellow vacationers in France after badgering them about eating meat.

Animal rights activist Heather Mills recently took 5-year-old Beatrice, her daughter with the Beatles legend, to the south of France for a vacation and was amazed when the little one began lecturing fellow guests about food.

But Beatrice's helpful advice backfired, and she was soon shunned when her new friends grew frustrated with her questioning.

Mills says, "Beatrice questions everybody who eats animals. When we were in the south of France, there was a buffet for kids, and by the end of the week no one would sit near us because she would go over and say, 'Why are you eating that cow's bottom?' or 'Oh, look at that little shrimp with little eyes.'

Mills opened a vegan cafe, VBites, earlier this summer in East Sussex, England.

Kelis gets major pay from Nas

AP Photo/Dan Steinberg, file

New mom Kelis has won a whopping $55,000-a-week in spousal and child support from estranged husband Nas after a judge ruled in her favor in their ongoing divorce battle.

Rapper Nas only wanted to pay $5,000 a month in child support for their newborn son Knight, while his budget for spousal support was not released.

Kelis -- who filed for divorce in April -- argued she needed $3,500 for a baby nurse and an additional $20,000 for strollers, cribs and other baby supplies.

But the singer, who gave birth in New York on Tuesday, will now have cash to spare after a judge ordered Nas to hand over the more substantial sum during a hearing on Thursday.

He will also have to cover additional costs of prenatal expenses and medical insurance and pay $35,000 in legal fees to Kelis' lawyer Laura Wasser, reports TMZ.com.

The former hip-hop supercouple was originally due in court on Tuesday, but they were excused from the hearing after Kelis went into labor.

The stars are both seeking joint custody of the baby boy.

Sorvino welcomes son after difficult pregnancy

REUTERS/Mario Anzuoni

Oscar-winner Mira Sorvino has given birth to her third child after a traumatic pregnancy.

The actress and husband Christopher Backus welcomed little Holden into the world last month, but she admits that carrying a baby for the third time was anything but easy.

Sorvino was diagnosed with placenta previa, meaning she had to be hospitalized for nine weeks before the baby was born, and was ordered to remain completely bed-ridden, meaning she couldn't care for her other kids, Mattea, 4, and Johnny, 3.

She tells People magazine, "I developed a blood clot due to all the inactivity and had to be anti-coagulated for months to prevent a pulmonary embolism. I spent another two-and-a-half weeks at the hospital, during which time, missing the children and my husband and knowing what the separation was doing to the kids became almost unbearable."

But the star insists the pain was all worth it: "As soon as they placed him in my arms I knew it had all been worth it. He is my miracle baby. With everything that threatened this pregnancy and both of our lives, he came out of it completely unscathed: perfectly healthy, beautiful and wonderful!"
