Sargent paces South Dakota State past UMKC 91-71

Clint Sargent's 29 points helped South Dakota State put on a second-half rush to beat UMKC 91-71 on Thursday night.

Nate Wolters had 16 points, Chad White 12 and Jordan Dykstra 11 for the Jackrabbits (9-4, 1-1 Summit), who outscored the Kangaroos 55-32 in the second half by making 21 of 33 shots (63.6 percent).

Spencer Johnson scored 19 points for UMKC (8-6, 1-3), which was denied its school-record eighth consecutive home win. Reggie Chamberlain added 18 points and Jay Couisnard 15.

After trailing 39-36 at intermission, the Jackrabbits broke a 45-45 tie on Dykstra's 3-pointer. That started a game-changing 17-4 run that ended seven minutes later on Wolters' dunk, providing a 62-49 lead.

The Jackrabbits shot 55.6 percent (35 of 63) for the game and were nearly as good from 3-point range at 45.0 percent (9 of 20). UMKC hit 25 of 54 (48.1 percent).
