That's how many applications for unemployment benefits were filed last week, the Labor Department said Thursday. New jobless claims dropped by 34,000 from the previous week to their lowest level in two years, suggesting the labor market may be taking a turn for the better as the economy strengthens in 2011.

"Looking at 3-D images for a long time may harm the growth of children's eyes."

That's a disclaimer from Nintendo, which recommends that children age 6 and younger don't use the 3-D functions when playing video games on its new handheld device. Adults should be careful, too, the company says. It advises taking a break every 30 minutes when playing games in 3-D. Nintendo will unveil the device, called the 3DS, at a three-day event near Tokyo next month.
