Chilling Effects Clearinghouse > Report Sending a Cease & Desist Notice: Step 1 |
If you have sent a cease and desist notice:If you believe your rights (or those of a client) are being violated by online activity, you want to send a notice that clearly identifies the activity and explains why the activity violates the law. We are also concerned with helping people to understand when their activity is outside the legal limits. If you submit a letter you have sent, we will analyze it in the same way we analyze letters received. If you would like to input a notice that you have received, please follow this link to the recipients' input form. Please be aware that just as we make a practice of removing the sending attorneys' names from letters input by recipients, we may not be able to post letters sent without removing information that identifies the recipient. Enter the cease and desist notice in the form to the left. Add links to relevant websites What violation are you alleging? What is the basis for your claim (cases, statutes, contract, etc.)? If you have scanned images of a physical letter, at the next screen we will ask you to please email those to us with the NoticeID that you will be given after submitting this form. View relevant material from the archives. Our aim is not to provide legal advice on either side of a case, but to give senders and recipients of cease and desist notices a better understanding of their rights so that both may conform their conduct with the law. Thank you!
