Nick Cannon

Will Smith gave Nick Cannon financial advice

Will Smith became Nick Cannon's money mentor when the star was a teenager - because he was wasting his paychecks on "frivolous, unintelligent" purchases.

Cannon was a millionaire music star by the age of 18, but frittered the cash away on luxury cars and jewelry.

He worked with his friend Smith on a TV show in 2001 and Cannon learned a valuable lesson about money from his pal.

Cannon tells the Wall Street Journal, "I became a millionaire and went broke all before the age of 19. I spent it right away and did a lot of frivolous, unintelligent things with the money.

"I bought jewelry and Range Rovers... instead of buying property I was leasing the most expensive property, and then you turn around and you owe the government 44 percent of what you made and you don't understand that, even when people you tell that.

"One of those who was a mentor to me at that young age and opened a lot of doors was Will Smith. I remember when I was going to buy the Range Rover he said, 'Man, don't go buy that, you don't need that'.

"He was someone who made $1 million and lost it at a young age, so you got to pay attention to the people who came before you."

Nick Cannon explains Mariah Carey's high heel ban

Mariah Carey's husband Nick Cannon has explained why he has banned his pregnant wife from wearing high-heeled shoes - he flew into a panic when he saw the singer fall over on stage in Singapore in September.

The stars recently announced they are expecting their first child together, and Carey subsequently revealed her partner had bought her 20 pairs of sensible shoes to make her pregnancy more comfortable.

Cannon has now admitted he banned his wife from wearing her favorite stiletto heels after an onstage scare which saw the superstar slip and fall over during a show - because he was terrified for the safety of their unborn child.

He tells Access Hollywood, "I usually don't get upset about things too much, (but) she took a small little spill (fall)... But sitting across the world, seeing my wife on TV. My pregnant wife... on TV... fall.

"And then even to see like you know, talk show hosts and different people making jokes about it and... all the commentaries and it's like, that kind of rubbed me the wrong way."

Mariah Carey pregnant

Mariah Carey has confirmed she is expecting her first child with husband Nick Cannon.

The superstar has ended months of speculation by announcing the happy news during an appearance on "The Today Show" in New York on Thursday.

The 41-year-old singer admitted both she and Cannon are "absolutely emotional" about the pregnancy.

She says, "Yes, we are pregnant. This is true. It's been a long journey. It's been tough because I've been trying to hold on to a shred of privacy."

Carey has also revealed she tragically suffered a miscarriage shortly after the couple's marriage in 2008.

She adds, "It kind of shook us both and took us into a place that was really dark and difficult. When that happened ... I wasn't able to even talk to anybody about it. That was not easy."

Cannon adds, "It definitely brought us closer together. It strengthened our relationship so much. ... She handled it so well."

The baby is due in the spring.

Nick Cannon fuming over Twitter hate messages

Mariah Carey's husband Nick Cannon has voiced his anger after receiving a barrage of disparaging messages on his Twitter page - branding the culprits "cowards" and "disrespectful."

The "America's Got Talent" host has re-posted a series of nasty comments on his page, which were sent to him by disgruntled fans.

The mocking 'Tweets' label the star "gay and annoying," among other insults.

Cannon admits he is upset by the content of the posts, but insists he will not be "bullied" by his harsh critics.

He writes, "I was just showing y'all the type of stuff I deal with every morning. Got to make sure I got my armor on... I never start stuff with anyone. I like making people smile. But y'all know the enemy is busy... but I will not be bullied... Some of the stuff is too disrespectful to retweet. But don't trip (worry) y'all I can handle it, I'm a soldier I actually enjoy being the underdog...

"Funny how people think I started all this stuff w/ everyone, when I'm just protecting my own. Cowards yell from afar but never want 2 (sic) step up."

Nick Cannon urges the press to back off with Mariah Carey baby reports

Nick Cannon has fired off at prying journalists for fueling rumors his wife Mariah Carey is pregnant, insisting the singer will address the reports "directly" when she is ready.

Speculation has swirled around the couple since Carey pulled out of a Tyler Perry movie over mysterious health concerns in June, but she's yet to confirm or deny whether she's a mom-to-be.

Cannon finally spoke up last month, telling Star magazine "Mariah is not pregnant" - but new photos of the singer performing in Brazil and sporting what looks like a fuller figure have raised fresh questions about the baby news.

And so Cannon has spoken out once again, insisting his wife will issue comment when the time is right.

Ranting in a radio interview on New York's 92.3 FM on Monday, he said, "I've said it before and I'll say it time and time again - when my wife feels like talking about whatever she wants to talk about, you will hear it directly from her.

"Honestly... I say this to you so you can tell whomever it is you've got to tell, we all know it's extremely personal, and it is for a woman to deal with things with her body, and especially when dealing with the idea of childbirth and all that stuff.

"We know that we're public figures... but that's something that you want to keep near and dear... until you're 100 percent sure in any situation... There's a certain time limit that you're supposed to wait before you actually can officially say that you are (pregnant).

"You've got to take all those things into factor and it gets really heightened when you're one of the most famous people in the world because you don't want to mislead anybody."

Mariah Carey pregnant with twins?

Mariah Carey and her husband, Nick Cannon, are expecting twins, according to a tabloid report.

The R&B; superstar has failed to put a stop to rumors she is pregnant with her first child after she was spotted leaving a fertility clinic in Los Angeles last month.

Carey further fueled the reports by mysteriously dropping out of Tyler Perry's upcoming movie, "For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf."

Her representative revealed the decision was based on medical reasons, stating, "She is not doing the movie because her doctor advised her not to. More than that I cannot comment further."

Now the National Enquirer reports the "Hero" hit maker is expecting a double bundle of joy.

An insider tells the publication, "Mariah is gushing that she's going to have twins. Mariah and Nick both want a big family."

And Carey has already begun to scale back her work commitments to prepare for motherhood, starting with Perry's film. The source adds, "Mariah told her handlers that she's taking an unofficial family time break, and she's keeping her work load light for the rest of the year."

The singer has been dogged by pregnancy reports ever since she wed Cannon two years ago and last year the couple turned to top designer Kenneth Bordewick to help style a nursery for the new Los Angeles-area home Carey and Cannon bought.

Nick Cannon turns media's baby speculation to pregnant puppy

Mariah Carey's husband Nick Cannon has confirmed the couple is expecting a new addition to their family - their pet dog is pregnant.

The actor/rapper and his superstar wife are rumored to be expecting their first child together after they were spotted leaving a fertility clinic in Los Angeles earlier this month.

Carey further fueled the reports by mysteriously dropping out of Tyler Perry's next movie, "For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf," earlier this week.

Her representative revealed the decision was based on medical reasons, saying: "She is not doing the movie because her doctor advised her not to. More than that I cannot comment further."

And Cannon has failed to put a stop to the baby speculation by laughing off questions about Carey's reported condition and turning the attention to another member of their family.

When asked by E! News if Carey was pregnant, he laughed, "That's news to me!"

He then added, "I do want to make a big announcement... Russell Terrier puppy Zha Zha is pregnant again!"

Mariah Carey turns to fertility doctors to conceive?

Mariah Carey is undergoing fertility treatment in an effort to conceive her first child with husband Nick Cannon, according to tabloid reports.

A representative for the "Hero" superstar was recently forced to deny speculation she was already pregnant after the singer hinted she had "something else very special on the way" at the Independent Spirit Awards in March.

But the couple, which has previously expressed its desire to start a family, appears to be ready to become parents after Carey was spotted leaving a fertility clinic in Los Angeles on May 11, reports Star magazine.

And the singer, 41, has allegedly started taking hormone enhancements to increase her chances of becoming pregnant.

A source tells the publication, "Mariah wants a baby ASAP (as soon as possible). She's actually visited fertility specialists a number of times.

"Mariah is not going to be content until she becomes a mom, one way or another."

Mariah Carey marries Nick Cannon again

Mariah Carey and her husband Nick Cannon walked down the aisle for a third time on Friday - hosting a lavish ceremony to renew their wedding vows.

The couple wed in the Caribbean in 2008, and promised to host a party every year to celebrate their marriage.

Carey and Cannon threw an extravagant ceremony at their home in Los Angeles to celebrate their second anniversary - with the pop superstar wearing a long, white wedding dress and a veil to re-enact their nuptials in their garden to the sound of a string-quartet.

Cannon also presented his wife with an extra special wedding gift - a candy ring pop replica made out of white gold and encrusted with diamonds and pink sapphires. The rapper/actor reveals he chose the gift to mark the moment he proposed, by handing Carey an engagement band hidden in a ring pop wrapper, according to People.com.

Carey later took to the Internet to express her gratitude for her husband's hard work organizing the event.

In a post on her Twitter page, she writes, "So last night's wedding vow renewal & small party... too many cameras (from close & far!) but it was beautiful. NC (Nick Cannon) is the best."

Carey and Cannon plan annual nuptials

Mariah Carey's husband Nick Cannon wants to follow in the footsteps of celeb couple Heidi Klum and Seal with a lavish annual wedding ceremony to celebrate his union with the pop superstar.

Carey and Cannon exchanged vows for the second time in the Maldive Islands in April, after a wild Las Vegas bash with their A-list pals.

And the actor/rapper is taking cues from German supermodel Klum and her singer husband Seal, who have exchanged vows with themed ceremonies every year since their own 2005 nuptials.

He says, "Do it big or don't do it at all. We're always having a party. ... It was so quiet the first time and we want to have a party for everybody. We went to the Maldives and had another wedding on a private island. We're going to get married every single year in a different location. You've got to do it different every single year, different every time, themed weddings, all of that."

Carey and Cannon stunned the world when they slipped away to the Carey's Bahamian estate to tie the knot last April after just weeks of dating.
