Where celebrity chefs cook their Thanksgiving meal

Over the last two decades or so, the room that was just for making food and washing the plates that it was served on has become one of main entertaining areas of the house. In older homes, kitchens were behind closed doors and out of sight. In the contemporary home, kitchens have become a place to entertain and hang out and have earned their spot on a home's VIP room list. With everyone trying to become their own professional chef, commercial grade appliances have moved into the homes of your average Joe and everything now is custom built.

No doubt over the next few days, many of us will find ourselves catching up with family and friends while making stuffing, carving the turkey or just grabbing a glass of wine. So, in celebration of the Thanksgiving holiday, Curbed profiled some of the fancy kitchens of famous celebrity chefs. Take a look at where they will be cooking tomorrow:

Starting off with our somewhat local celebrity chef - Guy Fieri, who hails from Santa Rosa is the host of Diners, Drive-ins and Dive and other shows on HGTV. His kitchen, of all the celebrity chefs, looks the most humble of all. With only 2 counter bar stools, he is obviously not putting on a show for his guests. And notice the water cooler on the left?

The icon of holiday decorating, Martha Stewart, has a clean and contemporary kitchen. While this is probably just one of her many homes, it doesn't have the New England country that one would expect from Ms. Martha. By the look of all those dishes in the island shelf and the commercial grade oven, you know she's ready to throw feed the masses. Notice the kitchen island is on rolling casters? A novel idea to make way for dancing or putting an extra table down for seating.

Ina Garten hosts her show from her home in the Hamptons. While it's been some time since I've seen her show, the kitchen pictures do resemble the kitchen from her show. A true entertaining chef, her island counter top seats 6, a round dining table is just off to the side and this is all around a warm and cozy fireplace.

The kitchen of southern belle, Paula Deen, lives up to the southern hospitality standards. The brick backsplash with the mish mash of random hanging pots and pans provide the homey touch. A lowered table that seats three at the end of the island makes you want to just sit down and have some soup with Ms. Paula.

The young and hip Giada de Laurentiis has a kitchen that definitely speaks her style. The most modern of all the celebrity chefs, it's dark espresso cabinets provide a striking contrast to the stark white counter tops and floors. A very clean and contemporary look - but let's hope not a lot is spilled this Thanksgiving on that pristine and gleaming floor.

So which kitchen would you prefer to be making your turkey in? Happy Turkey!
