Microsoft has reportedly redesigned the Xbox 360 controller - with a new SKU set for release this year.
According to Joystiq's sources, when the d-pad is rotated 90 degrees on the new controller it raises 'about a quarter of an inch'.
Why does this make such a difference? Fighting fans, apparently, who no doubt need a 'clickier' d-pad to assist with tricky combos.
The format holder has improved the D-pad once before - when it released a Limited Edition Pro Evolution Soccer-themed controller back in 2008.
The firm's latest minute revision comes in the shape of the sleek black pad given away with the new Xbox 360 S.
We'll drop MS a line and ask what's going on.
