Uruguay and Chile Praised at Shackleton Exhibition good wishes from the Falkland Islands.

The Ambassadors of Uruguay and Chile were distinguished guests at the opening of a major exhibition commemorating the famous Antarctic explorer, Sir Ernest Shackleton , at Dulwich College in London, where their countries' help and support in rescuing some of his men from his 1914 Endurance expedition came in for praise.

Calling The Falklands” Producer is an Oil Geologist.

The new producer of the BBC radio programme “Calling the Falklands” is a qualified geologist who has previously worked on oil exploration rigs. Thirty-four- year- old Nikita Gulhane, whose parents are from India and settled in Britain about fifty years ago, was born in Wembley, North London. He spoke of his job in an interview for Mercopress and met Mercopress Proprietor, Gus Meikle, in London.

Falkland Islands Donation to Royal Marines London Memorial

The Falkland Islands Government has donated £15,000 (22-thousand dollars) towards the restoration of the Royal Marines Memorial in The Mall, London, thus meeting the shortfall needed for the Appeal to reach its target of £85,000 (nearly 125 -thousand dollars).
