The Defence Vector:

This vector refers to the direct defence of Chilean territory, its citizens, assets and rights. The Chilean Navy acts jointly with the Army and Air Force to deter or repel potential aggressors. During wartime, the Navy’s task is to obtain control of the sea of a specific area during the time required for operations to be carried out.

The forces to fulfil these functions are:
-The National Fleet
-The Submarine Force
-The Naval Aviation
-The Marine Corps
-The Amphibious and Naval Transport Command
-Special Forces
- Northern and Southern Missile Boat Commands

The responsibility for keeping Chile’s sovereignty and territorial unity lies with Chile’s Armed Forces, an essential task carried out as part of defence policies through joint operations. To improve its coordination performance, the Armed Forces carry out a variety of joint exercises.
