E3 2010: Xbox 360 Kinect is £100?

Gamestop lists price for Kinect
Gamestop has listed the Xbox 360 Kinect on its website at $149.99, which translates to around £100, or 122 Euros.

Microsoft's revolutionary new peripheral was unveiled to the public earlier today and given a November 4 release date - but no price.

Earlier today it was also revealed that Kinect games will retail for £30, launch titles include Kinect Sports and Joy Ride amongst others.

UPDATE Sorry for the Kinect/Slim confusion chaps - the news is flying in the CVG news room and sometimes there are ugly collisions!

This WILL be a flop, I can't see many people spending extra on a pointless add-on with rubbish games. Unless Sony do something radical with Move tomorrow then it looks like PC Gaming will be resurrected...
MonkeyWrench127 on 14 Jun '10
£100 wouldn’t be so bad if the games shown weren’t so turd. Hopefully there might be some gems before release.
DaRockwilder1 on 14 Jun '10
Laughing Surprised?? Of course not. Laughing
Focker420 on 14 Jun '10
very rarely do exchange rates come in to console/addon prices etc...

150 in the states usually translates to 150 in europe.
ste hicky on 14 Jun '10
If it's £100, I'll get it.
Black Mantis on 14 Jun '10
I reckon it will be around £129.99 for the British Isles then

OWN GOAL

If it was bundled with the 360 Slim for 200 squid then I'd consider
sweatyBallacks on 14 Jun '10
im looking forward to the dancing game looks awesome, im looking forward too see what sony have up there sleeves

justforkicks101 on 14 Jun '10
I'm thinking that MS maybe have not released a price yet as they want to see the feedback (Backlash?) from the E3 brief. If they have any sense, they will sell this kit for sub £100, becuase the launch games are NOT for the guys who already own the system.

And I can't see it taking in too many new customers.
Spacereamer on 14 Jun '10
That isn't konect that's 200 quid on Play.com lads, it's the slim xbox.
Reegeee on 14 Jun '10
reegee,cvg said gamestop.

anyway, the headlines changed since i posted.

2-f*cking-ton!!? Shocked

nice mass market price there.

'strewth.
ste hicky on 14 Jun '10
Um you mgiht want to change this... It's £199.99 for the new XBOX 360 not the Kinect.. Looks like the Kinect will prob settle for £99.99 here if not a little lower...More than likely with one game bundled I reckon.
ShadowMKII on 14 Jun '10
nice one for the correction people. thought that sounded a bit much.

back to 150 it is.

strewth!!

nice mass market price there. Very Happy
ste hicky on 14 Jun '10
Hohoho. That Play price sounds very much like a ME FIRST! ME FIRST! effort.

They waited for the Kinetic announcement and stuck a healthy pre order price on there (as in "f**k it, if they charge double what the yanks get then we can comfortably start out with that as an estimate"Wink.

It'll probably end up £130 or thereabouts in the UK, then when they sell f**k all units due to a TERRIBLE "Wii too" opening line up they'll reduce it to around £100 and with the first crop of decent third party games on the horizon it'll start selling to more hardened gamers.

A decent bundle with the new slim xbox for about £250 would sell a frankly f**king ridiculous amount of units.
Moribundman on 14 Jun '10
How much?!?!?

So I can play Wii Sports knock-offs and other shovelware?

This has got failure written all over it in red marker pen.
mkwuk on 14 Jun '10
Just watched the aftershow interview over on GTTV and they are stating that the price wont be revealed until nearer launch (Nov). Plenty of time to understand they cant sell it for £150 Wink .
StonecoldMC on 14 Jun '10

Nice one ste hicky.

As I say - new SKU at £200, Kinetic at £100, combo pack £250 and a set of DECENT Kinetic games would have fanboys and newbies (as well as a few curious PS3 owners) buying like hot cakes.
Moribundman on 14 Jun '10
I seen the £199 price there and just wondered why MS had just commited suicide!

Make a Slim, Kinect bundle for £250 and they might just make it work.
Spacereamer on 14 Jun '10
i think CVG made that mistake on purpose, has anyone else noticed the sony fanboys poulouting this site today? and you shuf of heard the vile things sony fanboys were saying on the stream i was watching on ustream, it f**king disgusted me
dorian2011 on 14 Jun '10
oh i wish i was 10. then i could spend the next 8 years taking the p**s out of the dumb rich kid who spanks £200 on a kinetic to play a couple of new games. ha ha mel b w****r
evilpete on 14 Jun '10
Wow - so much for the £50 rumours we saw a few weeks ago.

If this is true (and since when are online retailers ever wrong Laughing) then I struggle to see Kinect taking off.
Moorpheus on 14 Jun '10
it will be around £100, just a bit more than the Wii balance board = fact
alan666 on 14 Jun '10
That £199 will include a slim. The clue is in the title

Likewise thevlim will sell for the same price as a regular 360. I.e. £169 ish for a core as confirmed by the press conference. That pitches kinect at about £50 for retro fit

Pay attention children

mookistar on 14 Jun '10
Holy hell, it's like they WANT it to be a flop...
Seriously, 200 quid? I'd rather have a colonic.
_Marty_ on 14 Jun '10

Its £200 for an Xbox 360 Slim, not Kinect which will be approx £100. The title of the thread is misleading, probably deliberately so in order to encourage flame wars and even more tedious slagging off of Kinect.
equinox80 on 14 Jun '10
Razzlay.com's dated Kinect for £199.

Play has dated it for £200 Confused Whats that s**t your smoking? And you have linked a 360 slim for £199. I think you are either stoned or p**sed
Mmmmgrolsch on 14 Jun '10
Regardless of price(£200?),you only have to look at the demonstration videos to see noticable lag between input and on-screen action and the star wars video has the avatar move before the "player" even moves!Besides control issues the lined up games so far appear appalling.I was kind of looking forward to this new peripheral but I can't see it becoming an essential part of the 360 experience.I wonder what the Kinect does to notify the user of hardware failure?I hope Move isn't a let-down aswell.
GoatBoyUK on 14 Jun '10
It needs to be around £70 including a game. It looks like fail anyway but a £100+ price tag and its fate is sealed.
only_777 on 14 Jun '10

Why the Hell wasnt this in the Press Conference!?!

This does look like the kind of Kinetic Game I would want to play!!!

I suppose we maybe shouldnt judge Kinetic too hard, well ok, maybe just a little Wink .
StonecoldMC on 14 Jun '10
you really are wanting to become the biggest sony douche on this site arnt you GROW THE f**k UP ITS A GAMES CONSOLE,

I take it you only own a 360. take abit of criticism for your beloved console. At least the 360 slim is looking very tasty and at a great price. But even dedicated fanboys have to admit M$ have done the worst conference out of both Nintendo and Sony combined.
Mmmmgrolsch on 14 Jun '10

Laughing I watched the E3 conference and that pretty much speels out the future of Kinect. Everyone has seen it for themselves. Wake up and see the future of gaming jumping on river rapids Laughing
Mmmmgrolsch on 15 Jun '10
Rolling Eyes you cant fight the sony parasites, there as realiable as finding crabs on an essex prostitute
dorian2011 on 15 Jun '10
Explain this then. If Kinect is to be the future of gaming as you seem to believe. Where were the games? I expect Sony t make a mockery of themselves aswell tomorrow.

E3 is going to be won by Nintendo they will over shadow them both. At least Sony and Ninty can't possibly do any worse than M$.

Kinectimal looks brilliant and something that looks to change the way we play games WinkLaughing

£100. £130. £150. £200.

These are not the numbers you're looking for...
LordVonPS3 on 15 Jun '10
There are some delusional people here.I'm guessing your're young and don't remember the Eyetoy.Kinect gameplay is very Eyetoy like, been there, done that, got bored.
The menu stuff will be turned off and you'll go back to a remote once the novelty has gone.
It is like the Balance board,it will end up gathering dust used 2 or 3 times a year.
Kinectimals is Nintendogs/Eyepet but looks like less of a game than either.
This is not fanboyism,it's wisdom.
strickers on 15 Jun '10
Only777 - the show went well i thought. Was not amaxing by was solid. Natal looks good, and new features and hardcore games will come out for it. This will do well in my opinion. Sony fanboys should p**s off and go comment on Sony's own conference.

Well if thats what you think, but the rest of the internet thinks that last night was as bad as Sony 2006 clanger. But at least that was funny to watch Sony bomb, MS was just embrassing
only_777 on 15 Jun '10
I think the multi-media element of kinect is the most exciting but still has it's limitations. Microsoft cannot eliminate the controller because I need one for my TV and i'll need a controller for the non-kinect games i'm about to play. If i'm holding a controller 90% of the time yet I paid £130 for a camera, I may start to resent it pretty quickly. Theres also the aspect that while intuitive, kinect is actually slower to operate seeing as the user must hold his/her hand still for a period in order to register a virtual button press. Furthermore, why isnt this technology being used with windows 7 and windows 7 media centre. I have my PC hooked up to my TV and have a dedicated PC remote. If Microsoft do genuinely have courage in their convictions shouldnt this be used throughout all aspects of their media division. Is this the best most intuitive input device or not? Either way, one party is being short changed. Oh and the games look crap
buffig on 15 Jun '10
it needs to be an impulse purchase price. £100 is not that. i want this but there's no way in hell i'm paying £100.

same goes for Sony's move either.

are they trying to make Wii peripherals look cheap? Christ!
shellster2 on 15 Jun '10
Did anyone else notice the size of Kinect? it was huge, it looked about the size of a old VHS tape. Certainly cant put that on top of my telly, more like the other way round. Also it needs it's own power source when used with the old Xbox, seems to me it's another rushed to market, off the shelve, unrefined piece of rubbish.

I honestly thought MS was gonna blow me away with this thing. Thought it could read individual fingers. If it was that sensitive why not have the user clench a fist to make a selection instead of hovering over.

I don't actually think it can read 3d space, if it can there was no evidence of it.

Thought they would played chess or something using Kinect to demonstrate how good it was.

All CVG headlines are wrong, I always say they should work for The Sun and The Mirror.

But would anyone click on the article and read it, as your title pretty much sums up the article, no need to read any further.
