Sony may be planning to bring more PS2 classics to PS3 in the game way it did with the God of War Collection.
The first two games in the brutal series were released on a single Blu-ray running on PS3 in high-definition and with added Trophy support, which proved a hit with Kratos fans.
According to reports, Sony has now issued a survey to select customers via email asking which of a small number of PS2 games they'd most like to see rezzed-up for PS3.
The good news? 'Shadow of the Colossus and Ico' is one of the options, and clearly the one Sony should do. No contest. If you get the survey land in your inbox, do the right thing.
Grand Theft Auto (imagine it in 1080p with 60fps frame rate, and I'm sure they could squeeze all five PS2 GTAs onto one BD, along with GTA1, 2 & London as an added bonus), MGS trilogy (preferably with Twin Snakes, unless Nintendo still have exclusive rights to that version, in which case do a Wii trilogy instead, just to keep them on one console), Jak & Daxter series (with the two PSP spin-off games as an added bonus), and perhaps Ratchet & Clank (again, with the two PSP games too).
i was a gamer who thought "i am getting a ps3 soon, why would i need a ps2 anymore when i can just play games on that? hand me my tub of water and a brick of francium and let's make a night of this" if only i knew back then that sony didn't know what backwards compatibility is.
MGS 1, 2 and 3. MGS 1 is the one I want most because it's still an amazing game, but it looks a bit fugly now. MGS 2 and 3 graphics are fine. I just want a completely faithful recreation of the first game but with HD graphics. Twin Snakes changed a lot of stuff. Sigh.
And definitely Ico and Shadow of the Colossus. I've only played demos of each. Never got round to checking out the full games.
GTA vice city and san andreas all the way. Although I like the idea of all 3/5 being on one disc. Vice city stories wasn't half bad either.
Imagine a GTA game with no crappy online trophies! Awesome.
that would be smint mate! I frigging hate that "get the highest rank" trophy on gta4! I mean seriously you get to rank 9 and you're only half way there, and i just aint got the time to spend days on end doing it and quite frankly theres alot of better games to take up my precious time online!
GTA:VC+SA, MGS2+3, Black (I can't believe that no-one's said that!) I'd sa TDU, but the original island's in TDU2. Also, Cold Winter. That was seriously underrated, the MP was great! It'd be ace online!
ICO,Shadow of the Colossus, MGS2 and 3 (A must), some JRPGS, maybe Dark Cloud and Dark Chronicles. Also a co-op online enabled, The Bouncer (That would be fun). And all either on Disc and download from PSN. Perfect start.
The Ratchet & Clank series gets my top vote, especially if Insomniac have indeed wrapped up the saga
Also Devil May Cry, Prince of Persia and still my favourate game of all time, Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the cursed king, still the finest RPG ive ever played
GTA collection please. Just imagine GTA 3, Vice City and San Andreas all on one disc. Heck why settle for 3 GTA games ? Why not the entire series ? GTA 1 and 2, 3, Vice City, San Andreas and even the story games gta Vice City stories and liberty city stories all with trophy support in HD...I would honestly kill a man and his entire family to get a GTA collection with trophy support all in one disc
Jak and Daxter (including Jak X with online for PS3) would be smashingly great. Perhaps even with Last Frontier and Daxter, but those two aren't as important even though they're good. The original trilogy plus Jak X. Oh yes, I'd pay A LOT.
well, this explains why the backwards compatability got scrapped.
cynicism aside: mgs 3,dmc 1 and 3,r-type final,soul calibur 3,FFX and XII,ico and sotc,gradius V,gran turismo 3,burnout 4,gta 3,silent hill 2 and beyond good & evil would be as good a start as any.
i wouldn't touch resi 4 unless move was confirmed to work with it.
if the rest were upscaled and 60fps i'd get a ps3 for them.
If they brought Ico and SOTC together on one Blu-Ray with upscaled graphics and trophy support I think I would weep with joy like Vanessa Feltz in Greggs.
