Project Natal - October UK release date confirmed

Marketing boss lets launch month slip
A Microsoft marketing exec has revealed that Project Natal will launch worldwide in October.

Marketing Manager of Entertainment and Devices at Microsoft Saudi, Syed Bilal Tariq, revealed the info on Saudi TV.

"I do have great news to share with everybody," said Tariq. "Project Natal will be launched in Saudi Arabia and in the world... that is going to be somewhere in October."

He added: ""We will be in a position to confirm the date after E3, which is in June. But definitely, it is going to be October 2010 - and we will have it in Saudi Arabia for sure."

So expect full confirmation next month - but it's going to be October.

CVG has previously rumoured the October launch date - after spotting a Natal Yoga game due for release in the month.

Microsoft product boss Aaron Greenberg has previously confirmed to CVG that Microsoft sees a five-year lifespan for the tech.

So next five years on 360 looks like past few on wii. Can't wait. My ps3 will be gathering dust.

love idea of natal and im one of those who cant wait for it, but here it comes

natal party games galore comments. if you dont like the games for natal you dont have to buy them. simple.

i didnt buy halo 3 and will not buy halo reach does that make it a s**t game. to me yes millions no. simple answer i wont buy the games i dont like.

same with natal if a flood of crappy party cash in games comes to natal i wont buy them. but it doesn't make natal a crap waste of money.

Need to see games first. I'm sure there will be a lot of crappy Wii style games.

I'm sticking with PS3 Move.

I'm sure all will be revealed at E3, Oddly enough though i'm more interested in what nintendo are going to do with the vitality sensor.

Fingers crossed for Eternal darkness 2 or that often hinted at resi 2 remake compatible with it. The things got endless potential for horror games IMO.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0puP8nrIU8 Laughing I actually think the move looks better than natal, but I love the c**kiness of Sony in this video

I have had a wii and so have all my friends and family all left gathering dust the consoles may sell but the software does not and the same will happen with natal and the ps3 crap wand thing Exclamation
tippey on 11 May '10
I'm intrigued by the idea of Natal but I have to ask: if this is coming out in October, how come we stil haven't seen anything but trailers and staged technical demonstrations? I've not seen anything but Milo and that dodgeball game "for real" yet, and neither one is all that appealing.

Hopefully E3 will calm my doubts.
GTCzeero on 11 May '10
That video looks like a proper cheesy early 90's advert for something like Pop up Pirate or some family action game.

They can stick their motion control up their bottom.
feeg86 on 11 May '10
The video is pretty horrendous- who has their sofa pointing in that direction in their living room? Who has living rooms that big come to think of it.

Still I'm going to remain optimistic for the time being. If the games turn out to be a load of twaddle I won't buy it if they're good I will. Simples!

Ball Wall again?! What a surprise. LaughingRolling EyesLaughing

You'd think Microsoft would have a little more faith in Natal, and actually show something different. Sony is very confident in their tech, they've done countless tech demos and revealed a handful of games already. Normally Microsoft markets the hell out of stuff, but not Natal.

Natal is still sitting on the back-burner for some bizarre reason. Maybe they don't have anything good to show. Just saying its great doesn't mean that it actually is. I'm still not impressed so show something that will convince me to think otherwise.

Plus, why do they think it will only have a lifespan of 5 years?? I thought this tech was revolutionary and is going to change the way we live our lives. So it'll only change our lives for 5 years??

Call me a fanboy all you want, but these are very reasonable statements.
Focker420 on 11 May '10
Maybe you should just wait until october? But we both know you're not going to buy it regardless of how good/bad it is due to your 'allegiance'. Laughing
But I do agree to an extent- I wish they'd stop showing that bloody Ball Wall game.

I think they're saving all the good stuff for the run up to christmas myself.

Sony are confident because Nintendo has been testing Sony's tech for the last 3 years. It's called the Wii motion plus.

Yes you are a fan boy which is also a reasonable statement.

E3 will be when the software is revealed, which has been known for a couple of months now and they said it will extend the 360's life-span by 5 years.

This is what I would have put before if I wasn't in such a bad mood Evil or Very Mad

See what they do at E3 and then make judgements.
equinox80 on 11 May '10
@BlackMantis- The article states "Microsoft product boss Aaron Greenberg has previously confirmed to CVG that Microsoft sees a five-year lifespan for the tech." Now unless CVG re-worded it, they're talking about the tech.

@equinox80- MotionPlus hasn't even been around for more than a year, just so you know. They had just announced it at last years E3. Also just because Wii had the motion controller first doesn't mean that its better. Sony is confident because their technology is leaps and bounds over the Wii.

Look guys I want to see something incredible from Natal, but so far they've shown close to nothing. I want to see something innovative and different. Hopefully E3 will change that, but I'm not holding my breath.
Focker420 on 11 May '10
I'm still unsure about Project Natal; it isn't the games I'll be interested in, it's the way you use the peripheral it self. With no controller I'm expecting a lot of third party cheap rate games, to me the controller is the center of all consoles.

voodoo341 on 11 May '10
Whilst I'm certainly keeping tabs on Natal, it's obvious that so-called shovelware will be released for it, just like has been done for the Wii.

However, I don't think anyone could say that Move won't suffer from the same issue (enjoy my double negative there Razz )

Both look interesting and if they can get decent games released then they should do well. Obviously at this point, Move has the advantage purely because more is known about it from a capability standpoint, however, E3 will be the big battleground for this little duel.

So because I only have a 360 that automatically makes me Fanatical Confused ? I would say im pretty fair with all 3 of the big players (maybe not so much Nintendo) but if you believe I have an agenda like wildhook and bipod (Crimbo) then theres nothing I can do, I suppose.

Thats because Dorain is quite obviously a 360 Fanboy, no need to point that out. The way that wildhook and bipod do is a lot more stealth like and if there's something I dislike more than a rabid Fanboy, its a Stealth Troll.

We seem to have been sidetracked from your original comment about me being Fanatical though?

Voodoo is the poster-boy for 'stealth troll'.

He actually used to discuss games, but now he just pops on to make sly digs at certain posters when they say something he disagrees with.

Dull, dull, dull.

I don't actually see the point in taking a pop at the likes of Dorian - he's irritating, but he's so obviously misguided that he's easily ignored. Suivaloom was the same, but it was just too much fun taking a pop at him!

People like Wildhook2 are just obvious prats though. It's just the way their posts read like 'Odes to Dear 'Ol Sony' that bother me - they're pretty much adverts.

I'm sure I get singled out as an 'Xbot' (isn't that what you call them?), due to the fact that I own a 360, but not a PS3. To be honest, I couldn't care less. I have no love, hatred or devotion to any manufacturer...well, other than Heineken - but they are truly Gods among men.

Sorry, there are Xbox Fanboys but they are overwhelmed by the Sony zealots who just want to dis the 360 for no reason other than it has done as well the ps3 and they cant brag about it like little children .And I own a ps3, just sick of reading bull from people behaving like 10yr olds.
Nothing wrong with a little banter but the same names pop up with the same hate all the time .
