Force Unleashed 2 progress is "phenomenal"

Follow-up "looks great and plays well," says LucasArts
Progress on LucasArts' Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2 has been "phenomenal," says CEO, Darrell Rodriguez.

Speaking in the latest issue of trade mag, MCV, Rodriguez said the follow-up currently "looks great and plays well".

He said: "The progress that our internal team has made from The Force Unleashed to its DLC, then to the Sith Edition which packaged it into one disc, and now TFU2 - well, it's phenomenal. It looks great and plays well.

"We sold over 7m copies of the first game. It has a big fanbase and we're confident they will come back. And we're still in a great relationship with [LEGO developer] TT Games."

Unleashed 2 is currently quite mysterious, having only reared its head once with a Christmas teaser trailer.

We quite enjoyed the first one - apart from that bloody Star Destroyer-pulling mini-game.

PLease dear god for the love of all that is holy make it an fps with motion plus/move/natal compatibility, depending on platform of course.

Failing that make another jedi knight game!!!!

There's no excuse now for them not to make a decent motion controlled light sabre game.

Whats the big deal with the star destroyer, I did it in about three goes?

I quite enjoyed the first, in a 'not-very-high-expectations' kinda way, but I doubt this will be a day one purchase for me.

Get Battlefront 3 sorted out. Lucas is falling over himself to pimp every other aspect of the franchise, so why all the grief with Battlefront 3? Why George, why?

What do you think would be better for "Force" games: Natal or Move?

I think Move - having something you can physically hold will feel better. On the other hand, I imagine you could do some pretty cool things with Natal, with hand gestures to unleash the energy attacks or lower your voice to play Jedi mind-tricks Very Happy

In either case, if anything can kick-start Natal and Move it has to be Star Wars Idea

Yes there isn't much news around at the moment, but CVG, if you took a little time to do a bit of investigative reporting, & not just lift news from other sites, you could tell people to got to the official site for SW:FU2 ...

http://www.lucasarts.com/games/theforceunleashed2/

& reoprt how the image of Starkiller seems to put him on Degobah with the dark side cave from Empire fashing away in the background & Yoda's hut on the other.

With the inculsuion of yoda's voice on the trailer posted last christmas, perhaps we can assume that Starkiller will be meeting the Jedi Master at some point in SW:FU2. Perhaps in a further turn away form the dark side!

WHERESMYMONKEY - Yeah Jedi Knight was a great game!
Going even further back Dark Forces was cool to...dam that's a few years ago! ..... off subject wish LucasArts would do another Full Throttle or even just re-release it with enhanced graphics

I still pray at nights to the beard of Kyle Katarn for another Jedi Knight game.
Since that isn't possible, I hope they have lightsabers that cut. I'm tired of bludgeoning Stormtroopers to death.

The first Force Unleashed was pretty weak, in my opinion. In fact, Lucasarts hasn't made a high quality, top of the line Star Wars game for some time now. They need to make a TON of improvements to get me to be interested in FU2.

On the other hand, if they made another sequel to the Dark Forces games, THAT would be epic. I loved those when they came out 10 years ago. Can you imagine how kick ass they would be with today's tech? I'm getting a chubby just thinking about it. Another Battlefront would be sweet too.

Get on it, George Lucas. If you're going to whore out your empire, make it worthwhile.

Personally i'd love to see another Dark forces or Rogue Squadron game.
WHERESMYMONKEY on 23 Apr '10
I thought it was the best Star wars story since the original trilogy, *Spoilers ahead* The way he sacrificed himself and founded the rebel alliance fit perfectly. I can't think of what contrived reason they made up to say he's still alive, And they better not bloody say "OH IT WAS THE MIDICHLORIANS" *spoiler end* On another note; has anyone invented a drink that erases the memory of the prequel trilogy yet?

God help me, why can't I read anything Star Wars related without thinking of that Family Guy episode with the 'Thai Fighters'... brilliant.

A new Rogue Squadron, now you're talking. I almost wet myself the first time I saw Rogue Leader. Thankfully I held onto my bladder control long enough to buy a Cube. Happy days.

Er, where the hell's my new Rogue Squadron Lucas? WHERE?!

Move for lightsaber, Natal for force powers, natch.

Yes that Star Destroyer bit made my thumbs quite sore Sad

hows about not locking the POS game at 30FPS this time? gimps
lmimmfn on 23 Apr '10
Please dig up Raven from where ever they are and get them to make another in the far superior Jedi Knight/Outcast/Acadmey series.

YES, THE STAR DESTROYER CONCEPT WAS COOL BUT THE EXECUTION WAS TERRIBLE. ANYWAYS, I CAN'T WAIT FOR PART 2.....

Force Unleashed 1 had frustrating controls, awkward camera angles, and infuriating save points that resulted in having to go through the same damn cut-scenes and mid-level boss fights over and over and over again. Such a shame because the opening sequences of that game managed to encapsulate the spirit of the original Star Wars movies IMO. The veneer quickly cracked after that though.

I'm not at all convinced I'll be buying Force Unleashed 2 - even less so as a non-second hand title.

As for my personal most wanted Star Wars game? An up-to-date re-make of TIE Fighter, or even better a genuine TIE Fighter 2. Leading on the PC.

Full Throttle - The Polecats!

Awesome game.

...and Dark Forces, still got my original copy upstairs. Smile

due at the ass end of 2010,you have to wonder just how is 2011 so jam packed with Star Wars tiles that Lucas cans the development of Star Wars Battlefront online because they wanted it out this year

i can think of two other star wars games for 2011,they are The Old Republic and Lego Star Wars 3..hardly packed, especially as The Old Republic is for PC only

so,more Star Wars games to be announced for next year?..another crap Clone Wars game no doubt

i wasn't a fan of Force Unleashed,so i am out for this

star wars FU was a big FU to me.. after waiting for that game for so long i was supremely dissapointed.. all that touting bout technology and it had dated graphics and everything.. gameplay and all else was meh\good at best.. that bringing the starship down part was ridiculous.. Jedi Knight series was much better. It sold 7 mils coz its got Star Wars attached to it.. HYPE HYPE HYPE.. again
