DS and PSP battled to claim the top spot on the Japanese hardware sales chart during the week ended April 18, with Nintendo's portable narrowly securing victory.
Sales of the three DS models available hit 31,255 units, just topping combined PSP-3000 and PSPgo sales of 30,550.
PS3 again topped home console sales, but it only outperformed Wii by a slender 1,000 units.
While they remained at the foot of the hardware rankings, PS2 and PSPgo were the only systems to record a rise in weekly sales.
As reported yesterday, New Super Mario Bros. Wii topped the software sales chart for the second week running, while the PS3 version of No More Heroes: Heroes' Paradise was the highest new entry at number seven.
