Dead Rising 2's set to include a co-op mode, Capcom's confirmed.
During the sequel's campaign players can invite their friends to partner up with them at any time to take on the zombie massacre tag-team style, the publisher says.
"Once the zombies have gathered, your friend can rain bullets from above or shoot at a strategically-placed gas tank to create a deadly explosion that will take out masses of the enemy," it says.
Capcom also revealed more details on the 360-exclusive prequel 'DLC', Case Zero which will be released before the actual game.
"This Prologue consists of unique content not available in the full retail release of Dead Rising 2 and will introduce new protagonist Chuck Greene as he and his daughter find themselves caught in the desert town of Still Creek that has been overrun with zombies," it says.
"Set two years after the Willamette incident and three before the action of Dead Rising 2, Dead Rising 2: Case Zero will help bridge the gap between the two titles and give players a taste of the new gameplay they will experience in Dead Rising 2 as they create combo weapons, rescue survivors and take on a ruthless Psychos before making their escape."
The game's due out on August 31 in North America and September 3 in Europe. Check out the new screenshots below.
To be honest this looks pretty good but that DLC sounds like it could be quite interesting to play. Why then is it 360 exclusive? I know it'll get more sales for the 360 but seriously that sort of semi fundamental part to the story is something all platforms could benefit from.
I'm really looking forward to this, the first Dead Rising is a hell of a lot of fun to play (and to watch) & having the whole thing now in co-op is going to be great.
That prequel story should be damn interesting too.
Dead Rising is one of only a handful of Games that I bought but didnt complete, it was a great Game spoiled by one or two key issues, if they can sort them out it should be a great Game.
Quality, cant wait, the first is one of my favourite 360 games, never had a problem with the save system except in the survival mode, just couldn't dedicate 14 or so solid hours to finish it.
@Stonecold, There was nothing wrong with the save system in Dead Rising, it added to the challenge and quirkyness of the game.
Just cos you weren't good enough to finish it doesn't mean it was broke, I sailed through the game more times than i care to remember and even took great joy in the 5 -7 day survivor achievements.
