New Bad Company 2 DLC detailed

New kit upgrades for soldiers out today - details on how to get them here
DICE will release new downloadable kit upgrades for your Battlefield Bad Company 2 soldiers today, although you'll need to read on for details on how to get them in your region.

"There are 4 kits, one for each class, specific unique uniforms and camouflaged weapons gives you a visual edge," explains DICE on it's official site.

"Recruited strictly from other high-level Special Operations units such as Delta Force and Spetsnaz, the Special Activities groups - SPECACT - are the elite of the elite, used mainly for covert operations and other high-risk missions in areas where conventional troops cannot be used.

"With the 4 kit specific unique uniforms and the camouflaged SPECACT personal M16A2, UMP-45, MG3 and M95 SNIPER you have a visual edge on the Battlefield, showing that you're a force to be reckoned with. The pack also includes 12 new awards and 4 Achievements"

Here's how you get them:

"In North America the kit upgrades are only available on Xbox 360 using the Dr Pepper codes printed on special promotional cans.

In Europe and the UK you can get hold of the kit upgrades for:

Xbox Live Marketplace
160 MS points per kit upgrade
440 MS points for bundle pack (all kits)"

DICE says the kits will come to PC and PS3 "a little later on".

I thought all BF:BC2 DLC was gonna be free? Neutral
ted1138 on 21 Apr '10
Indeed, what the hell?.

So much for their "no dlc charging" policy they were bragging about, even though it does seem to be free in the US.
ukdruid on 21 Apr '10
Nah they said they won't charge for MAPS cos they don't want to split the community
baldy666 on 21 Apr '10
Keep it DICE. You had to gain experience playing online to get access to better weapons and kit and now you can just buy better weapons.
voodoo341 on 21 Apr '10
People are bound to over react to this news but if they read the article properly they would know that the content won't change anything.
"unique uniforms and camouflaged weapons gives you a visual edge"

I agree DICE shouldn't have made a big deal about free DLC though. It was clearly just a PR stunt to put MW2 to shame.
Mr Pikmin on 21 Apr '10
Gonna be an expensive couple of days with this dlc, lfd2 dlc and afterburner Smile
galvatron81 on 21 Apr '10
No DICE did not say all DLC was gonna be free,

They said they would never charge for Multiplayer maps as they divide the community between haves and have nots limiting who you can play with.

These are obviously not multiplayer maps and will not prevent you from playing with people who dont have the download.

Still crafty twa@ts putting chievos on there!

I'm assuming they mean you'll get the camo'd up versions of these weapons if you've already unlocked the normal 'vanilla' weapons.

And also, no love for the SAS or SBS? Fer shame DICE ...... fer shame.
richm74 on 21 Apr '10
Hahahaha!! DICE aren't the game developing Messiahs all the MW2 haters thought they were.

Hahahaha!! DICE aren't the game developing Messiahs all the MW2 haters thought they were.

Hate to break it to you Stedwyer, but by comparison to IW, they are ........ by a country mile!

Oh and to clarify, after reading the comments by one of the DICE bods over at EA UK forums, this is a piad DLC for skins only. Outside of some possible benefits for the camo'd guns being less visable, it does not automatically give the guns to peeps that have paid but not unlocked. You must level up to get the guns first.

Any DLC that has new guns/vehicles/maps will be free. DICE have said that from the start. As a bonus for PC gamers, we get the VIP content for free anyhow (just not the skins DLC, that PC gamers can purchace thru EAonline). It's just consoles that get the VIP treatment if they buy as new, not second hand.
richm74 on 21 Apr '10
They said the map packs would be free so as to not split the community. There are no 'new' weapons, just different skins for the top level guns in each class, once you have them unlocked you can use the skins.

Charging 400 ms points for a tiny bit of DLC is in no contrast to charging 1500 for 3 new maps and some content that you'd played on before, many many times, 2 years ago...

Still, the MW cash pony is dead now anyway. RIP.

Hahahaha!! DICE aren't the game developing Messiahs all the MW2 haters thought they were.

lol I would rather get maps for FREE and decide wether these skins are worth buying, than have to decide wether to pay for maps and get these pointless skins for free.

Also heard that PC people will get this for free.
tonyalmeida on 21 Apr '10
We've known about this DLC for ages now. And we KNEW it was going to be charged for. It's the maps that aren't getting a cost. Very Happy

However, if you want this stuff for free, search the net for the codes. They're reusable. You just need to have 4 email addresses to register each code.
