Kick-Ass game coming to PS3

PSN title will arrive at end of April
A video game adaptation of comic book movie Kick-Ass will hit PSN on April 29th - and is fully playable on PS3.

Developed and published by WHA Entertainment, the title will cost $14.99 in the US - so you can expect it for around £8.

It's been rated M for Mature by the ESRB.

The title is a third-person 3D action fighting game, where the player can play and control modern day super heroes based on the super characters found in the film of the same name.

Gamers will be able to play as the three primary characters in the movie - Kick-Ass, Hit Girl, and Big Daddy.

Kick-Ass follows the story of the movie, and features multiple environments within New York City.

There's 12 story missions, plus two bonus rounds. And the publisher promises 'plenty of gore'. Joy.

Multiplayer local co-op gameplay is also available - but not online, it appears.

Bonus points also unlock the complete first edition of the Kick Ass comic book.

"We are excited to provide players a closer look at the gameplay and characters involved in Kick-Ass," said Howard Horowitz, Founder and CEO of WHA Entertainment.

"Kick-Ass is set to deliver non-stop superhero action to gamers, and what could be more fun than getting to play as one of the three super heroes based on the super characters featured in the movie?"

Its a brilliant, brilliant movie and this looks like a cool downloadable Game.

I would love to see a full on retail release version though, they have a great world and some great characters to use.

This is going to be awful.

Aside from the PsOne-era visuals (seriously, those are some damn ugly screenshots), the story just does not lend itself to a game. Half of the point of Kick-Ass is that he is an absolutely crap superhero, with no fighting skills whatsoever.

Hit-Girl and Big Daddy are a bit better, but they are so dedicated on revenge to the exclusion of all else that unless the game follows the story of the film to the letter, it won't make sense for them to be pursuing random criminals.

This is clearly being rushed out to cash in on the film, and the budget price point shows it's an afterthought.

Of course they might end up pleasantly surprising me, but I doubt it.

not seen the film yet, as this is PSN i hope they do a better job with the game than the XBLA/PSN Watchmen game..that looked great for an Arcade game, but that was about it

Film absolutely rocks, seen it twice, goin again on Friday. I'll give the game a chance, the trailer looks fun but the voice acting? What, Chloe Moretz and Nic Cage weren't available? So what, use clips from the film, idiot developer!

I think if they recycled sound clips from the film I would fel very short changed.

Morgadp hit the nail right on the head. I sense it may be like the Watchmen games actually, they weren't bad. Not good either, but not bad.

I fully expect this to go the way of the Watchmen game.
