An all-new first-party Natal project has been outed by a US movie director. But don't get too excited, hardcore 360 fans - this sits very much in 'casual' territory.
River Rush was detailed on the blog of US movie exec James Gunn, who recounted his experiences at a Microsoft showcase.
In addition to the already-seen Ricochet, Gunn played River Rush alongside a friend from MS, called Dave. Dave sounds like fun.
Here's how Gunn described it:
It's a game where you stand side by side in a river raft, so it's two people playing at once. To move right, you have to step right; to move left, you have to step left. As you rush down right rapids, you have to jump up and slap floating stars in the air - the whole raft jumps up every time you do.
This game was even more exhilarating than the kicking one, and even more aerobically challenging. In fact, I'd say the ONLY drawback to the Natal some people may have is that you have to get up off your ass to play it. But, for me, a person who likes exercise and gaming, it's sort of a dream come true. An hour of playing Natal every night will definitely burn calories.
Dave's avatar was a girl during River Rush, probably because Dave feels like a little princess inside, and I suddenly realized how awesome it would be for my avatar to molest Dave's. As my avatar rubbed its crotch against Dave's avatar's ass the Microsoft folks started laughing and said that was the first time they had seen anyone do that. I was extremely proud of myself. I'm sure millions of little assholes will follow in the wake of my avatar-raping, but I want it to be noted in my Wikipedia page that I was the very first.
Warming him to the hearts of core gamers everywhere, Gunn added:
Whether I'm historically acknowledged or not, the Natal was an amazing piece of technology and I'll be the first one in line to buy one when they come out during the holidays. Bayman told me there were boxing and football and other Natal games coming out, but I really, really can't wait to shoot someone on that fucking thing.
Just had a thought, it wont end with avatar raping, this is a potential unexpected side affect of full body control. Avatar slaps, masturbation, flipping off.... I wonder if this is what they had in mind when they decided to put this sort f tool in the hands of, like he said " Little ass-holes"
Ummm why would it?? Nowhere in the article did it mention whether it lagged or not. All he said was that the game is fun, that doesn't mean there wasn't any lag. Plus it sounds like a game you'd get bored with in ten minutes anyway imho. Sorry dorian but until they prove otherwise then it still lags.
So it "lags until they prove otherwise."? Do you believe in God cause that hasn't been proven yet.
I actually don't believe in God.I'm not gonna get into a whole religious argument cause it'll just p*ss alot of people off. For the record I believe in evolution all the way.... or aliens.
On Natal, I only say that because ALL of the videos released so far show that it lags. Show me something that doesn't and I'll change my opinion. Until then it still lags.

yawn.

I don't give a rats ass bout this "lag" issue. MS will make sure its not there or minimal. They are not that stupid. And this goes for the Move too.
As for this little game...... this is what i was afraid of. Pure party game crap. Step left, step right, clap your hands.... you have got to be kidding me. This is the Natals revolution? I'd rather kill myself then play this. I'm a gamer, not a little doggie that likes to jump through hoops.

Lag or no lag, this does not sound like fun. At all.

When has a belief in God and Evolution ever been mutually exclusive. Darwin was a staunch Christian.
Evolution in itself also doesn't explain a first cause, just what happens after it. I'd like to think that if there is a god he/she/it would be intelligent enough to create a planet and life that would be able to survive and adapt as it needed to.
I'm slowly losing interest in Natal and Move mainly because we've seen bugger all other than a couple of tech demos and what will more than likely be the party games they'll respectively be bundled with.
Sorry to be a partypooper Stonecold, but you've seen what developers have done with the Wii the last few years. What makes you think that this will change anything? What would you consider a revolutionairy idea with Natal? Something the Wii or Move won't be able to do? Think about it really hard. What could they do with this device that would revolutionize gaming. I can't think of anything and judging by this River Rush game....so can't the developers.
It has great gimmicks, sure. Face and voice recognition is kinda cool to intergrate in a game. But if you think Natal will create a new game type..... sorry mate, that aint gonna happen. It will be a different control set for existing game type's and you can be the judge if it will be a better one.
Its not that i don't want these devices to fail. These developers still haven't shown me something to get excited about. Nothing.
Thats my point though, we havent seen anything from Natal apart from Richochet, a paint Game and a few Games that have been patched like Burnout.
Im under no illusions that the launch Games of Natal are mainly going to be social/casual or Games, however if we can get one 'cool' for every 10 social/casual ones, id actually be happy with that.
If E3 swings by and all we get are Games like River Rush or Richochet then id be pretty disappointed, the point being MS have been very very guarded and secretive about what is said about Natal pre E3. Only a couple of months until we know for sure what Natal can actually do, and my glass has always been half full .
all i did was be neutral and say the ps-move might have lag so we can have both sides of the arguement and you call me a troll? mabye its you that shud crawl back under ur rock
Natal needs a kick a$$ RTS with tap controls it would be sweet it would def make up for the lack o keyboard and mouse options in that genre IMHO imagine supreme commander or AOE or OMG strategy games the possibilities
