Apocalypse Now game from Ex-Pandemics?

New company Killspace registers 'Apocalypse Now Game'
Killspace, a studio comprised of ex-Pandemic and EA Los Angeles employees looks to be working on an Apocalypse Now game.

The studio, which according to LinkedIn is comprised of ex-employees of the aforementioned companies as well as Obsidian and Red 5, is said to be focusing on action titles.

One of those, according to its registered domain 'apocalypsenowgame.com' looks to be based on the Francis Ford Coppola film. Which sounds like an... odd idea.

In addition to the licensed game Killspace is also said to be working on one Original IP with a "major publisher".

I'd imagine this to be a Vietnam-based FPS, that is only linked to the movie in name only.

No. Just no.

Fantastic film but not game material. Unless they do a Marlon Brando mini game where you have to eat hundreds of pies when you're supposed to be slimming down for the part of Kurtz. Marlon was totally into pies. Allegedly.

Another game based on a Francis Ford Coppola film?

How about they adapt The Conversation next? Have Gene Hackman's character break into office buildings and sneakily plant listening devices, snapping necks like Sam Fisher on a bad day before extracting to the chopper waiting on the adjacent roof. It's just like the film!

Ummmm... cashing in on the FPS boom methinks.

Can't honestly say I'm all that excited about this announcement. A game based upon a Vietnam-conflict-themed movie that itself was based upon the novel "Heart of Darkness" (which was set in colonial Africa,) by Polish born author Joseph Conrad? Sounds thin. Sounds pretty damn thin to me.

Perhaps if the story followed Killgore or put you as one of his men is could work. I cant see the game having you in contol of Willard. It would be boring.

Really? How exactly do you turn a drug fueled anti-war film into a game? I suppose they'll throw in a "drop napalm" option and you'll have to defeat Brando with QTE.
