Microsoft's just put out some art and trailer grabs for Gears of War 3, after this morning's totally surprising announcement.
The platform holder describes Epic's third game as a "spectacular conclusion to one of the games industry's most memorable and celebrated sagas," and has confirmed a release date of April 8, 2011 in Europe.
Mr. Cliff Bleszinski said of the announcement: "When we released 'Gears of War' more than three years ago, we set out to tell the world an unforgettable story of bravery and sacrifice in the face of insurmountable odds, and a year from now, players will get the chance to experience the final chapter in the story of Marcus Fenix and his companions in Delta Squad,"
"This is definitely the biggest and most dramatic chapter yet in the 'Gears of War' saga, and we can't wait to deliver it."
From the look of screen shot 6 this could potentially be a flash back?? It doesn't look like Marcus is with any of Delta squad, unless the bearded dude is Dom, plus the guy on the left hand side of the shot has a knife bayonet instead of a chainsaw bayonet which is what the COG used in the Pendulum Wars era according to the little book that came with Limited Edition Gears 2! Either way the trailer was great and can't wait for this title!!
No I think he is with Delta Squad, you can see a quick glimpse of Baird (sp?) in the background just after the shot of Anya. Maybe Dom having a beard is to show how rugged and run-down he has got following the events of the death of his wife?
You can also notice on screenshot 6 that they are bare armed and not armoured on the upper arms as previous! from left to right I can see dom, a chick (anya) marcus, looks like kim rather than cole unless he has had his head shaved and finally baird
