Infinity Ward's decimation in full

We recap all staff that have left the Modern Warfare 2 studio
Despite all the wars, conflicts and battles that have featured in video games over the years, perhaps the industry's most thrilling stand-off is occurring right now in the real world.

Since Infinity Ward's top dogs Jason West and Vince Zampella were sacked by Activision, only to form Respawn Studios and sign a deal with EA, there's been a mass exodus of Infinity Ward's top members, which shows no sign of ending any time soon.

A month after West and Zampella's removal, Infinity Ward lost two more high ranking members when lead designer, Todd Alderman and lead software engineer Francesco Gigliotti both left the company.

The Infinity Ward exodus continued when veteran programmer Jon Shirin announced his resignation from the company on Twitter on Monday - followed by designer Mackey McCandlish, who revealed he was leaving on Facebook.

Over the past week the ordeal picked up pace when Lead designers Zied Reike and Steve Fukuda, programmer Rayme Vinson and lead artist Chris Cherubini were all said to have left Infinity Ward on Wednesday.

The saga continued yesterday when long-time Infinity Ward staffers Mark Grigsby and Paul Messerly - lead animator and lead character animator, respectively - left the studio, according to their LinkedIn profiles.

To date it's known that at least ten per cent of Infinity Ward's staff have departed the company - whether they will join Respawn is yet to be seen.

Meanwhile, in a little slice of gold, our friends over at PC Gamer have made a special 'updated' version of the Modern Warfare 2 credits. They pretty much highlight how much influence will be missing for MW3:

Someone should make a game about this whole ordeal...

But thanks for doing a round-up... doesn't look too good for them does it, even without the lawsuit possibly putting an end to MW3

Six (6) people are credited with writing the story for MW2.

What story, exactly? I recall that there was some snow, an airport, a man with a skull for a face, and a dude with a knife in his eye... but a STORY? That's not the way I remember it...

To be fair, the story writers leaving is not really a loss. The story was s**t.

Personally i thought the story waas good, but the MP was plagued with lag and imbalance. lets not even start on the fact there was no zombie mode....

Seems the secretary is still there. The unsung hero of the series... MW3 is safe Cool

The amount of people dropping out and disappearing it's more like an Infirmary Ward rather than Infinity Ward! Laughing

I HOPE THIS ALL MEANS NO MORE CALL OF DUTY!!!!!!! THE END OF COD WOULD BE NOTHING BUT GOOD FOR THE INDUSTRY. HOPEFULLY EVERYONE WILL GET OVER THIS MODERN/REALISM/WARFARE OBSESSION. IT'S LAME, MINDLESS, UNINSPIRED, & BORING. LET'S BRING BACK ART, STYLE, FANTASY, & STORY. (SORRY, I DON'T USUALLY ADD TO THE 99% OF PEOPLE'S NEGATIVE COMMENTS ON THESE THINGS, BUT SOMETHING SERIOUS NEED TO BE DONE ABOUT PULLING GAMING BACK ONTO THE RIGHT PATH).....

This whole thing will damage MW3, but I doubt Activision are too bothered considering the DLC sales recently.

May as well go and play some Bad Company 2 now...

Infinity ward fail anyway. I was expecting mw2 to be AMAZING but it was rushed. Heart beat sensors for multiplayer was just taking the mic. MW2 Is for n00bs because you get points for doing the smallest thing

Like I said in a previous post (in a roundabout sorta way) not everyone will be buying Respawn Ent's new game as it was the idiots that left IW who appear responsible for the clusterf**k of a console port to PC of MW2.

Unless West & Zampanella pony up the goods this time, i'll stick with DICE products thank you very much.

They might as well have left a sign that says "Jesse Stern sucks!" in the story department, poor thing.

I have to say I was bitterly disappointed by MW2 single player. I felt that they followed the COD "b" team in becoming more concerned by cinematic moments rather than cool level design. Too much "look at this cool thing" and not enough "Do this cool thing".
