EA move 'daunting and exciting' - Zampella

Infinity Ward co-founder discusses new partnership
Sacked Infinity Ward co-founder, Vince Zampella has called both his and Jason West's move to EA Partners "daunting and exciting".

Speaking in an interview with LA Times after this morning's announcement, Zampella said: "This is a total reset. We're starting again from ground zero. It's daunting and exciting."

The ex-Call of Duty boss, who was fired and removed from the Infinity Ward premises earlier this year, wouldn't discuss his new studio, Respawn's new game, but said he expected it to be "huge, summer blockbuster" scale.

He added that they would consider turning their games into films, comic books and other media.

"We have learned the hard way," said Zampella, "that the best way to ensure the integrity and quality of your work and make sure the fans get what they deserve is to own the intellectual property."

EA Partners boss, Frank Gibeau called the pairs' arrival back at EA 'ironic'.

Sounds like thier hands were forced content-wise for MW2 then.

Joining the lesser of two evils?

I question their decisions. Honestly, if it's for what the fans deserve, rejoining EA isn't probably the best of decisions. What were their reasons for leaving in the first place?

More cash for them now I suppose, by owning their creative output, and "turning their games into films, comic books and other media". Sounds awful...

But good luck.

As long as they make something other than another shooter.

Sounds like he's going to have to learn the hard way again that games aren't like comics and movies.

Still, I respect the 'underdog' style enthusiasm.
