PS3 was the top selling individual game system in Japan during the week ended April 4, although it only just edged PSP.
Sony's home console shifted 39,000 units, compared to its portable's 37,500 sales.
Wii was in third place on chart with 31,000 sales, followed by Nintendo's three DS models.
Overall, DS was in fact the week's best selling platform, moving a combined total of over 41,000 units.
Of course, this wouldn't be the case if PSPgo didn't continue to perform so miserably. With just 1,803 sales, the handheld ranked below PS2 again, while Xbox 360 also remained in the relegation zone.
Meanwhile, Atlus RPG Etrian Odyssey III debuted at number one on the weekly software chart, ahead of Fist Of The North Star Musou for PS3, while Konami's Pro Baseball Spirits 2010 entered in third place.
01. Etrian Odyssey 3 (DS, Atlus) - 88,000 (New) 02. Fist Of The North Star Musou (PS3, Koei) - 72,000 / 457,000 03. Pro Baseball Spirits 2010 (PS3, Konami) - 57,000 (New) 04. Pro Baseball Spirits 2010 (PSP, Konami) - 51,000 (New) 05. New Super Mario Brothers Wii (Wii, Nintendo) - 42,000 / 3,617,000 06. Friend Collection (DS, Nintendo) - 36,000 / 3,068,000 07. Yakuza 4: Heir To The Legend (PS3, Sega) - 34,000 / 501,000 08. Pokemon Ranger: Tracks Of Light (DS, Nintendo) - 34,000 / 360,000 09. Dead Or Alive Paradise (PSP, Tecmo Koei) - 32,000 (New) 10. Pro Baseball Spirits 2010 (PS2, Konami) - 21,000 (New)
Only problem with these figures is that Japanese is in no way indicitive of the rest of the world. Their buying habits seem a little 'strange', to put it mildly.
