"Fans in the UK have been crying out to get their hands on Alan Wake since it was first announced and we're thrilled to be able to deliver it to them early," said Stephen McGill, Director, Xbox & Entertainment, Microsoft UK.
The Xbox 360 exclusive sees players assume the role of Wake himself - a best-selling crime writer suffering from writer's block, who escapes to a small town only to experience the mysterious disappearance of his wife.
Rated BBFC 15, Alan Wake will be available for an estimated retail price of £49.99.
Early?, this game has been in development for over four years. In that time a lot of excitement I had went out the window. Just release the damn game and spare me the early bs
A week early, more like a week before Red Dead Redemption comes out on the 21st.
RDR is the highlight of the month, Alan Wake is still a unkown really, it could turn out to be total ****. Where as RDR is already being touted as a Game of the year conteder
Just over a month to go, May is going to be one busy month!!
This may be of interest to you, Stone.
The Limited Edition of Alan Wake for the Xbox 360 on Amazon.co.uk for 39.99 quid (it may or may not come with free shipping in the UK). At that price it's only 2 quid more expensive than the regular version from Amazon.

Cheers KFD, bit ive already pre ordered through Game, its pretty much the same edeal and price as the Amazon offer.
Why dont you take the plunge ?
I kid I kid, lets not go there again .
Cheeky monkey!
I do think it's a reasonable priced LE of such a high profile game and thus I have been tempted, but you know where I stand on this. I'll wait for a second hand copy for the Xbox 360 or a PC announcement (not holding my breath on that count).
Good. About time Europe got a AAA title before the US. Only fair since Remedy are a European team!
I agree this may well have something to do with RDR being released on the 21st tho. Wakey needs at least one week topping the charts before that multiformat behemoth rolls into view...

Remember that with the LE you will get the first Alan Wake Epsiode as well to download for free, you probably wont get the code with a used copy. Just to keep you informed .

Cheers Stone. On this occasion I'll take my chances as I am planning on buying a standard version second hand.
That said, I hope it is everything, if not more than, you expect.

I hope so too...I really hope its awesome for you stone! and for all
Is it just me who still hasn't seen much at all in the way of actual gameplay footage of AW? I'm sure it has the potential to be great, but equally it has the potential to be rubbish.
I'm just surprised there's so much hype and excitement about AW based on so little footage of the game in motion. Screenshots and movie-style trailers don't count.

On the contrary, I've seen a lot. Posted on this and plenty of other sites. Get Googling.
Had my copy on pre-order with Shopto for quite some time now. They've upped the price to £45 for the LE though which is odd as normally their prices are brilliant. No matter as I pre-ordered when it was £39. \/
I'm keeping an eager eye out for reviews though. Anyone know when review copies are being sent out?

True, there's always that risk, but, I have to say, from what I've seen, I think this is going to be a bit special. Personally, I'm praying that it sells a shed load, cos if it does we might get a few more developers deciding to make a horror game. It barely exists as a genre anymore.
Ive changed my XBOX gamer tag to Alan Wait....As my name is Alan, and ive waited for this game for ages...not sure people will get it...Alan Wake had already been taken by someone...is that you Stonecold? Ive also got my avatar an Alan Wake book...its sad, i know, but i am excited by this game....
It is quite unbelievable that this was one of the 1st games i pre-ordered for the 360 on launch along with Huxley, what was that like 5 years ago? so god knows how long this game has been in actual development, you would assume at least 6 years Just hope it's gonna be worth the wait.

Exactly Flash, if Alan Wake is a success then you can see other Devs branching out or back into the Survival Horror genre. Without a doubt it has been the most underused genre for years now, which is a real real shame.
Agreed- I'd love a Silent Hill type of atmosphere and storyline just without the awful controls/graphics/acting/fighting. This looks like it could be a mix of Silent Hill and Resi 4 in terms of how it plays. Just hope it doesn't go down the all action Dead Space route.
