Xbox 360 slim images leaked?

Smaller hardware revealed in supposed snaps
Supposed leaked images of a smaller, Xbox 360 'slim' have appeared on the internet.

More "leaked" snaps of what were said to be the innards on the smaller machine emerged earlier this month.

Xbox 360 Slim is said to take advantage of a combined CPU and GPU, according to reports.

We'll see what Microsoft has to say.

UPDATE: Some sites (and CVG readers) are now reporting that this is actually an Xbox 360 HD DVD player (remember those?) Can anyone confirm?

It just looks like the casing has been trimmed down. You'd show the thing full on, not a obscured and unrevealing side angle. Fake methinks.
Zabba 2 on 30 Mar '10
An obvious fake!!
bazzatuk on 30 Mar '10
Erm, doesn't this look a bit like a Xbox 360 HD DVD Drive on it's side?

mmmmmmmm looks like a hd dvd drive to me.......
JAKEevans on 30 Mar '10
Looks like a Blue Peter project mock-up, coupled with the fact the fool in the picture has gone to the trouble of showing an open box with Microsoft tape on it to somehow give credence to it makes me think this is about as reliable as a GT5 release date!
Tonyb on 30 Mar '10
yes it looks like a hd dvd unit from the side prob someone messing around Very Happy
condemmedman on 30 Mar '10
It is the hd dvd drive for sure, cant believe no one at cvg twigged that before posting
eddiehitler on 30 Mar '10
It wouldnt suprise me if they do release a Slim model to try and outsell the ps3. Because for the past 5-6 months since the ps3 went down to 300 and released thier Slim model it has outsold the xbox360 every week worldwide, so they might think its a good strategy to start outselling it.
StokedUp on 30 Mar '10
Definite fake...

It's a HD DVD drive CVG
Robzy1990 on 30 Mar '10
I just came on to see this and was going to say t
the same thing. The HD DVD drive was basically a tiny 360 and just as cheaply made (that rattling disc tray!)
JuiKuen on 30 Mar '10
I have a HD-DVD drive and its looks exactly the same as the images (also how would the Hard Drives fit onto that smaller unit) . Amusingly I only said a couple of days ago to someone after the faliure of HD and the HD drive for the 360 I wondered if they would use the mould and design to make a 360 slim Shocked Spooky Laughing
Osiris25 on 30 Mar '10
LOL @ cvg's failure here, how could you not see it is the HD DVD????
TheCrimsonFenix on 30 Mar '10
cvg it may be time to delete the article and just forget abut this.
mafiahobo on 30 Mar '10
.........Ok A. consoles known for heat issues shouldn't release slim consoles and B. that is quite obviously (as most people have pointed out) a HD-DVD drive
blitzpoisonpunk on 30 Mar '10
Laughing This articles made my day.. cheers for that CVG but you may want to delete this article.
chunkyboymania on 30 Mar '10
First impressions do point to it being a HD drive.

Although I would question the size comparative to the old one, I cant see them reliably slimming it down that mush, also HDD ???????????

This does look like a fake but the again I seem to remember some gimpy photo's and a lot of speculation a few months back for another machine being slimmed down and everyone pretty much called fake, I cant quite remember how that turned out again.... Wink
ewko117 on 30 Mar '10
I think the motherboard pic released earlier in the month was real, however this just looks like an obvious fake. Even the background in the picture looks like a guys house and not a factory/office where such a product would be manufactured behind closed doors.
sonic_uk on 30 Mar '10
On the optimistic side if and when a slim does come out, I think my current model is looking a bit tired and like it wants to be confined to the bedroom, this would probably be an early purchase for me.
ewko117 on 30 Mar '10
If this is you're aim at a April Fools gimmic, that is fail. lol.
KMakawa on 30 Mar '10
Wouldn't they likely release the new slim model in black as well in line with them dropping the Pro model? Yup, definitely HD-DVD drive.
cian84 on 30 Mar '10
if it was the real deal it wouldn't be in some blokes bedroom already like in the pic.
alan666 on 30 Mar '10
Wouldn't a real "slim" Xbox360 look just like the HD-DVD unit anyway? Neutral And if they wanted to save money, wouldn't they make the HDD internal too? Confused
ted1138 on 30 Mar '10
if it was the real deal it wouldn't be in some blokes bedroom already like in the pic.

Eh he he you're right.

I've also got a white cube shaped object in my bedroom. It's a free-view box.
sweatyBallacks on 30 Mar '10
In which case...

epic fail. It's a HD-DVD drive you numpties!!!
OptimusFrag on 30 Mar '10
The lads at 1up have confirmed what we already knew, its the HD-DVD drive for the 360.

.........Ok A. consoles known for heat issues shouldn't release slim consoles and B. that is quite obviously (as most people have pointed out) a HD-DVD drive

The benefit of slim consoles is that they generally use chips made by smaller processes (which give off a lot less heat along with being cheaper) and can therefore be packaged smaller due to less demand on heat exchangers. So surely a slim is of benefit rather than an issue.

Plus the heat problem is fixed in the new 360s.
