It's a brilliant game and it deserves it.

Surprised to see Heavy Rain stay in number 10.
wildhook2 on 22 Mar '10
GOWIII is a wonderful game and thoroughly deserves to be at no.1.

In fact, those are the best looking charts that I have seen for a good while. Props to Heavy Rain and Metro for being the weeks surprises.

The only problem that I have is trying to play all of these games with just two hands and two eyes.

Maybe evolution will soon grant us the ability to play 3 or 4 games at once? Laughing

hated it. smashed it up after 10 minutes.

instead of a smacking sound when you hit enemies you get a fairy swishing sound. and the combat is just all over the place, primitive and button mashery - its just some gimp dancing around with fancy lighting effects.

terrible. feels like a ps2 game. which it is, with a lick of paint.
svd_grasshopper on 22 Mar '10
SVD's just annoyned he didn't get to kill Poseidon if he smashed it up after 10 minutes

Dude - keep the rage in game only - or Alan Titchmarsh is going to have a field day. Razz

I thought GOW3 was spectacular - maybe not GOTY but a 10/10 experience all the same.

or that you dont physically hit it.

no crunching hit sounds, no hit animation or anything, you just walk up to the edge and spaz about until the hit combo starts counting.

poor and cheap mechanics.

Have you forgotten your medication again? Surely the first 2 games in the series would have given you a good indication of whether you would like GOWIII or not.

Either that, or you're just rubbish at it.

I didn't button mash once, through the entire series. Button mashing is for cretins who can't be bothered to figure out how to play a game properly.
Mark240473 on 22 Mar '10
didn't own a ps2 or any GOW games, so...

still feels terribly dated and primitive. it's one of they games button mashing is rewarded.

i.e. cheap crap battle system.
svd_grasshopper on 22 Mar '10
Button mashing is normally rewarded by a swift and brutal You Are Dead screen.
B-dog on 22 Mar '10
SVD are you sure you are playing GOW? While you are entitled to your opinion I really don't understand the crap about no hit animations etc. That just isn't true.
Mental on 22 Mar '10
Yeah but theres no way you will get far by button mashing on Titan level difficulty. Completed it on saturday morning, and now playing through on Titan, you need to know every move your going to make and when to make it. for example fighting Hadies i find it best to stay round his legs unleashing 2 cyclone attacks at a time. By the end of that Hadies will either try to step on you so 1 nudge right stick roll,or he will use his claws which needs two rolls. Then back to the cyclone attacks and repeat till hes dazed.
It took hours to defeat Hadies on Titan but was easy to sit through again and again, when it all looks so fcuking awsome!!

the baddy at the edge, you don't hit it. you just swing about in its face and pull off that tornado move, doesn't feel or look like you are hitting it.

and the normal baddies you 'hit' them and the sound effect is an airy whisp instead of a satisying thunk.

totally killed it for me.
svd_grasshopper on 22 Mar '10
I guess you didn't get as far as actually fighting posiedon then. Becasue we you hit you could tell you'd given him a whack.

I'm not sure what the sound of a pair of incredibly sharp swords attatched to a mans arms with chains are supposed to sound like, but i'm guessing some kind of whooshing noise might be involved.

As the other guy above said were we even playing the same game. personally i thought it was fantastic.
God of War 3 makes Ben hur look like kitchen sink drama about the troubles of a small mining community in west yorkshire....bigger than epic.

If you press L1 and circle, you can pull enemies towards you. This is especially useful for the gits that pop up from the ground, and the goats, just because they tend to block a lot. Once you've pulled them towards you, you usually get a decent opportunity to smack them up a bit.

With perseverance, you'll find that there is a move that works for pretty much every enemy.
Mark240473 on 22 Mar '10
I hate those bloody goats they've been the bain of my life in every God of War so far.

Thanks for the tip mark. I've benn just evading their attacks and countering near the end and hoping to pull of the grab move that lets you rip the staff out thier hands and impale em with it.
WHERESMYMONKEY on 22 Mar '10
Finally the PS3 is getting some good games, cant wait for June when I pick up mine, just trying to work out where its gonna go under my TV, getting a bit cramped down there what with the PS2, 360, surround sound amp lol . . . . . .

Sony shocking everyone and bringing out a software mualtor for PS2 games would just round this year off even better, enough with this motin control ype already lol

Have you every swung those blades just standing still? They're really long.
Also this is NOT a button masher. Good luck getting anywhere in the game just mashing buttons.

Especially on Titan mode, just beat it yesterday. I dont think there was a single part in the whole game where I was just mashing buttons. Every enemy requires a specific strategy.

This part had me stuck for a while, I used the green 'wolverine claws'. You have to avoid the little exploding dogs, try and lure them to explode on the other enemies. For the big dog I held L1 and box then kept hitting L1 and box, this makes you float above him while attacking and he cant hit you. Then for the 2 horned guys try to grab them whenever possible, this wears their health down a little quicker, and u grab them to finish them off anyway. You counter most of the attacks except for the one where he flips and launches you with his blade, just try and roll out of the way when you see him fly in the air.

It would be nice if sony did release an emulator but i doubt they will. they'd make more off of porting some of the bigger PS2 games with a HD make over like they did with God of War.

From the sounds of things you'd be better off trying to find a 60gb model then you can replace you ps2 with it. Its what i did.
WHERESMYMONKEY on 22 Mar '10
They just need to offer the PS2 games on the PS Store like they did with the PS1 games.
Focker420 on 22 Mar '10
Oh god I hated the Satyrs in that part, It was especially bad because of the Cerberus spamming you with bloody exploding dogs non stop.

You should try it on titan mode Shocked . It was just as difficult as the Zues battle. Both are insane.

cheers mark and focker for the tips, i shall have a blast at it after ive finished my stir fry with a numb mouth Laughing

Am I just really good at this game, or are you lot just bad? I haven't found anything hard yet, i'm almost at the end of the game and I've been owning everyone.

The game is incredible.

Either your doing it on normal mode,in which case your quiet behind as a few of us have already done that. If your doing it on titan and have no probs then maybe you really are the god of war,and need to step up to the hardest setting. Im back upto Helios now on titan.

How do you know your near the end of the game?? And switch to Titan if its so easy, unless of course your on easy. Normal is normal, you shouldn't have too much trouble with it.

Hey, SVD, when you make a videogame that is on the scale of God Of War 3, come and tell us, so we can play it and judge it for ourselves. Until then, get off that high horse, remove your head from your anus and get a f**king life.
RandyChimp on 22 Mar '10
I am on titan, and I've just beaten Zeus, guess I'm just really good.
