Bungie has predicted that Halo: Reach will become the biggest game of all time when it releases this year.
As we've reported, CVG expects the Halo: Reach release date in September - and Bungie community boss Brian Jarrard believes it will mark the beginning of a gaming phenomenon.
When IndustryGamers asked him is he thought we'd see a Halo movie one day, Jarrard replied:
"Yeah, I can speculate. Are there more stories to be told in the Halo universe? Absolutely. Do I think Reach will be the biggest game ever and probably attract an even larger audience to the fan community? Yes, I actually do.
"I would think that the marketplace for a movie would be more ripe post Reach than it even was after Halo 3, so I'm willing to bet that it's not a matter of if, just when. I'm just speculating here since it's Microsoft's decision, but looking at how Halo Legends went and the release of that animated feature, definitely there's demand for it, and I do applaud them for not rushing into it and waiting until they find the right people and the right creative ideas and the right time frame. I think all of us at Bungie would love to see the right movie still get made with the right people; we're just going to have to wait and see, just like all of our fans."
I doubt it anywhere, to be honest. I think that, unforetunately, that title will stay with Modern Warfare 2, and it'll take something incredibly big (which won't be platform exclusive) to top it.
Biggest title ever or not- count me in! As long as it's as much fun to play as the other games while also chock full of Halo-y awesomeness I wouldn't care if it sold 5 copies.
Sorry bungie it probably won't happen (although you totally deserve it with Reach) it's a proven fact that gamers today love buggy and glitchy games with no fun factor. They also love overpriced DLC that shafts any fans they may have left after the disgrace was released. (Go on guess which game I’m referring to )
So overall Reach probably won't sell the most out of every game ever but it may very well be one of the best for a while .
He is probably right, but its not fair in a way as 360 users haven't really had anything decent in a while (not including FF XIII but the reviews weren't that great). Starving 360 users of games and then releasing one big title like Halo, ofcourse it'll be a success. I myself got bored of Halo after the 3rd installment, there is only so much Halo one person can take. The 3rd game sucked balls anyway.
Of all time? Really? That's a pretty bold claim if you ask me, especially in the same year as the likes of Mass Effect 2, Final Fantasy XIII, Gran Turismo 5, Old Republic and Zelda Wii.
Biggest Halo game until Bungie release one on Bluray!
Why would you need Bungie when you have M.A.G, Socom, KZ & Resistance? I wonder why?
Just ignore it, it's been doing it in every thread, he's a very silly silly boy. Plus he's swapped more sides than the Italians so I wouldn't listen to a word he says unless it's about some kind of delicious foodstuffs.
I'm going to assume that you know the Halo franchise will only be on Xbox and that anything Bungie do will be a different game altogether (or maybe a sequel to an older game).
You'd have to be mighty dumb otherwise, but your spelling is so nice I couldn't bring myself to believe it.
343 industries will be dealing with any future Halo games.
I hate the hype game companys do. They just have to fart the word Halo and the kids are on it like a fat kid on cake.
The single player of 3 was not that great but like most games like this the online sells it. I just hope they put a lot more effort into the single player than MW2.
Anyway I dout I will buy this. I may give it a go when it is cheep. Just because I was not a big fan of 3 and have not botherd with ODST.
Graphics aside this does look a lot like 3. I gues I will have to wait and see but we all know this game will sell crap loads even if it was just a hour long and one map online.
I personally think Halo is a really good franchise, but I don't understand the rabid defence by some people.
Is it so wrong to not like Halo? Has it suddenly become a necessity to love the game?
I'm pretty sure that you guys have voiced your opinions on games you don't like.
You need to suck it up. I know I do, every time a new GT5 story appears.....
For me, it's because it recieves just so much unjustified hatred. Fair enough, some people don't like it, but the amout of vitriol-fuelled bollocks you get banded around in Halo threads is just mind-bogglingly pathetic and ignorant. Especially when the vast majority of it comes from people who don't have enough experience of the game to come to such a strong conclusion.
The "rabid" defensiveness comes as a reaction to that hatred, but doesn't come anywhere near matching it.

I'm not a Halo fan, I must admit - but, the one big criticism that the series seems to recieve is that it's in some way being 'milked'.
@Mark- point noted- I have no problem with people not liking Halo- I mean I'm currently on a Game Art course where everyone has their own tastes yet no one has ever started a 'nerd war' (as far as I know), like you find on here. Banter, yes- full on opinonated, single minded stupity, no.
Luckily there are no fanboys of big faceless corporations. Only games... So far.
But then stating your opinion and talking utter bullsh*t are two different things (Say hi to Ivan over there!)
It's the same tune alot people sing about it being "Milked". Is it because they can't come up with a legitamate arguement as to why they don't like the game AKA problems with setting/story or just the general flow of the game? Or does it just make them just feel better about other games being milked(several come to mind)? The blatant hipocracy is hilarious!
loving some of the posts, but i think you'll find the reason certain people hate it so much is that each time a platform exclusive 'halo beater' is announced they cling to it and support it and each and everytime the said 'halo beater' game always fails to even dent halos sales and community. people love it for its fun factor which it has tons of in spades.... roll on may anyway for the beta, is it may 3rd??? also is it out to download in the a.m, cos if so im booking that day off....
How can either Reach or GT5 be as big as MW2? MW2 was crap but the reason it did so well was crazy hype and the fact it's on every console. Reach is on the 360 and GT5 is on PS3. MW2 had twice the potential audience.
But on topic, I hate the hype when they say 'this will be the biggest game ever' cause you ultimately never know. Its way too early to tell and it could end up being a major flop. Doubt it but you never know.
I don't usually make my decision about a game until I see some legit footage. I was skeptical about God of War 3 at first mainly because of all the hype surrounding it. Then I had watched the first 30 minutes and I was blown away. It then became a must have. With Red Dead Redemption, I could care less about it. Then they started putting out gameplay videos and screenshots, now I'm really excited and gonna buy it day one.
On the other hand I was extremely excited about MW2 for months before any videos were released or anything. My hype meter was maxed out I was just so anxious. I finally get it and it was a huge disappointment. I couldn't believe what they had done to modern warfare. I set myself up for a serious disappointment. I'm not saying Halo will be like that, but it might.
You just never know, Especially this far out from the game's release. Hype is sometimes good and other times its bad. I dont think Reach will be the 'biggest game ever' because even though MW2 was a failure gameplay/story wise, that doesn't mean it didn't sell incredibly well. Reach probably would have been able to do it if it was multi-platform, but since its just 360 good luck.
Hey we'll see. It's good they are changing it a bit as up to now I think the halo games have been abysmal in the bigger picture.
Still think it wont dent MW2 when it comes to sales and halo isnt as big in europe so whatever. Guess you don't even really believe the crap you say but whatever gets people hyped up right?
