The 50 Best PS3 Games

Our definitive list has arrived...
Last week, we asked our readers to tell us what the best PS3 games on the market were. You duly obliged: We received hundreds of your opinions via email and under our original story.

Now, having taken your thoughts on board - combined with the opinions of the world's press and our own silly ideas - we've compiled our list of the best PS3 games on the market.

Batman: Arkham Asylum may have pipped it to the post at last week's BAFTAs, but it's Sony's Uncharted 2 that comes out on top in our list, with Assassin's Creed 2, Modern Warfare 2 and Demon's Souls all also hitting the Top Ten.

I would put Wipeout, Fallout 3 and Dead space higher in the list, but other than that I'd agree.
robbiej55 on 23 Mar '10
Wipeout and Flower - over 40 places below MW2? Really?
altitude2k on 23 Mar '10
Not too bad a list, but I think you've been a little harsh on the PSN titles. I reckon a few should be a little higher. It's all rather subjective anyway. I've got 33 / 50 of these. Not too bad considering the number of new games in the list I haven't got yet.
wrightandrewjame on 23 Mar '10
This is why user-generated 'Top xx' don't work very well - LBP is number 19 for PS3 ffs?

Fair enough it has it's haters but in terms of representing brilliance and diversity PS3 has to offer I just can't look at Bioshock 2 above it and still maintain respect for the list.

Sorry CVG
HBgamer on 23 Mar '10
Why did you even bother asking for our opinions if you were going to flat out ignore them?

Demon's Souls at number 10.

MW2 at number 3 and no sign of folklore.

I'm calling shennanigans on the whole thing.
WHERESMYMONKEY on 23 Mar '10
Nice list, well done
Focker420 on 23 Mar '10
I'm not being funny, but God of War 3 is on the list? It was only released on Friday, was it not?

I can promise you that the people who voted for it probably haven't even played it yet.
monty_79 on 23 Mar '10
Where the hell is PJ Monsters? Sad
Mark240473 on 23 Mar '10
Good list. Disagree with the the order they are in but not a big deal at all. As long as you got all the good ones Smile
SICARIUS1 on 23 Mar '10
I have exactly 30 of those titles but I have to disagree with Far Cry 2. Biggest waste of Ł10 I've ever spent. Stupid fucking game breaking glitches and nothing like the first Far Cry.

I've shit better games and not even hesitated to flush them down the pan!
Squall5005 on 23 Mar '10
lol'd at modern warfare 2 above modern warfare. what a joke, discredits the rest of the list really. defiantely agree on the top 2 though
Tobal on 23 Mar '10
Rating flower at 50 is just wrong. Like sticking your junk in a cheerio
Coulson1990 on 23 Mar '10
MW2 in the top 3, how.......expected!

CVG when are you gona get it into thick skulls that modern warfare 2 is f**king crap?! Seriously it doesn't belong at number 3 at all and the fact that its higher than cod4 is embarassing!
Infact looking back to when you asked us to name our favourite ps3 games i cant even remember more than 1 person putting mw2 in they're list, at all! Obviously we wasted our time on that sh*t!
bunneyo on 23 Mar '10
1st bioshock is infinitely better than 2 and wtf is with MW2 being that high? Ass creed 2 is not THAT good either. Whatever, you can like anything you want.
Sleepaphobic on 23 Mar '10
Did Loose Women not win at the National TV Awards?

When you leave these things to the masses to decide it will always be the mainstream dross that gets the plaudits.
StonecoldMC on 23 Mar '10
Demons Soul's at number 10?, 7 places lower than MW2? pffft bunch of mentalists Rolling Eyes
captain savaloy on 23 Mar '10
WTF?!

Worst list ever made, purely for the fact that MW2 is beating God of War 3!

God of war 3 may just be the best game ever released, if not - it's certainly better than modern warfail
Tinseltopia on 23 Mar '10
WTF?!

Worst list ever made, purely for the fact that MW2 is beating God of War 3!

God of war 3 may just be the best game ever released, if not - it's certainly better than modern warfail
haha warfail. nice 1
Sleepaphobic on 23 Mar '10
What CVG meant to say was
1. Uncharted 2
2. Batman: Arkham Asylum
3. God of War 3
4. Fallout 3
5. Assassin's Creed 2

Then just ignore anything past 5. Modern Warfare 2 higher than the original? FIFA, or any sports game for that matter, appearing on the list at all? Phsaw I say. Pshaw.
GunstarHeroX on 23 Mar '10
Bad Company 2 is better than Modern warfare 2, so is 30 of those games on that list. I don't see why gaming sites rate it so highly. Non-gamers like Modern Warfare 2 because it's a casual game
feedel on 23 Mar '10
I think PSN games got a bit sidelined here.

BAFTA winner FLOWER deserves far better than the 50th spot, and the omission of CRITTER CRUNCH is disappointing, too.

But perhaps we need to let boxed games have the limelight while they still exist, eh? Smile
NewJorg on 23 Mar '10
Where the hell is Alan Titchmarsh and the Quest for Idiocy? I know it was only on Norwegian import, but still! The erotica-writing minigame was legendary! Anyone with me?
Jimmy Luxury on 23 Mar '10
I wouldn't even touch 37 of those games listed with a ten foot pole, when I finally get around to getting a ps3 I've no intent on playing anything that involves guns or first person views, about as boring as you can get.
Athrun888 on 23 Mar '10
oh good.
How about you make a list with just PS3 games, which i thought was the whole point in the list in the first place? What the point in putting multiplatform games on the list? How does that differentiate it from the 360?
As for the list itself...Dante's Inferno?
Seriously?
SERIOUSLY?
I think this says more about the person writing the list than the quality of the games personally.
jazzy_p on 23 Mar '10
This list is completely f**ked up.
spaceman_DOUG on 23 Mar '10
Eh bioshock 2 above the original bioshock, I think somethings slightly effed up there
trooperdx3117 on 23 Mar '10
Resistance: Fall of Man should be so much higher.
It was atleast better than the first Assassin's Creed. Call of Duty 4 was better than GTA IV too.
Monkey-d on 23 Mar '10
Lets try this again shall we:
(by all means move the list around as you prefer)
I attempted to follow the list, which differs a lot from my own personal tastes, but i'm sure some bias got in.
This is a proper list of ps3 games. Not multiplatform.

1. Uncharted 2
2. MGS4
3. Demon Souls
4. Valkyria Chronicles
5. Heavy Rain
6. Killzone 2
7. Uncharted
8. LBP
9. Resistance 1
10. Infamous
11. Flower
12. PJ Monsters
13. Ratchet and Clank (Crack in Time)
14. Resistance 2
15. Motorstorm
16. Wipeout
17. Warhawk
18. Pixeljunk Shooter
19. Singstar
20. .....?

I didn't include GOW3 because it's only just been released. Personally i wouldn't put it anywhere near the list..
jazzy_p on 23 Mar '10
Well at least the number 1 game is right, thats something i suppose.
Adam81uk on 23 Mar '10
i assume the list was compiled from everybodys input, in which case how you moan about it?

well i voted for uncharted 2 being top, so - da da de da da Wink
shellster2 on 23 Mar '10
bioshock 2 topped the original's narrative. Give over. The originals storyline has one of the best twists in a game ever. It hits you like a truck to the side of the head.

the second one was almost entirely by the numbers.
WHERESMYMONKEY on 23 Mar '10
Crying or Very sad this cannot be true.
MattKCW on 23 Mar '10
i think they should have done an exclusive list for 360 and ps3 and then a multiplatform list.

tripe like MW2 invading the list over games made specifically for the ps3 is a joke... and kind of ruins the point of the full thing.

you can play MW2 on all platforms.
svd_grasshopper on 23 Mar '10
Ratchet and Clank @ #39?

Your idiots
stedman on 23 Mar '10
thought it was gonna be 50 best ps3 games, not 50 best games that are released on the console that are released on everything else. might as well of added ZELDA OOT to the list. as everything else is added.

take out all the multiplatform games on the ps3 list and do it again please.

the community has spoken top 50 exclusive games for each platform. NO multiplatform console titles ALLOWED.
A HERO EMERGES on 23 Mar '10
I agree with the list,except MW2 on 3,and Folklore didn't make it,but i'm glad that u haven't forgot Heavenly SwordVery Happy
taz on 23 Mar '10
But ,but ...I thought teh PZ3 had no gamez!!!

Well ,now seriously ,the list is a good one but I dont agree with the spots.Valkyria Chronicles ,Wipeout HD Fury and Flower among others cant be that low ...AC2 and MW2 definitely cant beat God of War 3 and Killzone 2,LBP MUST be in the Top Ten and lots of brilliant PSN games as Critter Crunch ,Shatter and Fat Pricess are nowhere to be seen.

Also ,Bioshock 1 is better that Bioshock 2.
Diomedes1977 on 23 Mar '10
wheres Savage moon? cmon you big doughnuts, Wipeout should of been a lot higher as well Very Happy
martinawatson on 23 Mar '10
MW2 is decent, but there should be no way it should be in the top 3, no way it should be above MW1 and no way it should be in the list as its cross platform, you impudent fools CVG!

Must disagree with AC2 as well, somehow i prefered AC1. Bioshock shouldn't be there cause 360 got it first.

Roll on 360's list!

(Will there be one ?)
Hi im on 23 Mar '10
I would have thought shatter would've made it just for the music.

What an underrated game it is.
Reegeee on 23 Mar '10
Well i'll be! 50 decent games on the ps3!!!
Sorry there is only 1 game on that list I was willing to pay full price for & that was multi format MW2! I could have put some decent input in if it was 50 top games any format or 50 top games wii i'd still struggle but would be easier. Mad
gmctyphoon on 23 Mar '10
cool. I didnt even know there was 50 games for the PS3... Smile Ive got a whole shelf of xbox games in my dvd cabinett and only 7 ps3 games Very Happy
lyrael on 23 Mar '10
I joined this website to say:

WHO THE HELL THOUGHT OF THIS LIST???
Modern Warfare 2 as #3!!! You have GOT to be kidding me Laughing
DarkVincent07 on 24 Mar '10
I've s**t better games and not even hesitated to flush them down the pan!

If only the developers knew of this method, we wouldn't have to wait so long for games. A quick vindaloo and Bob's your uncle, instant game!
gideonseer on 24 Mar '10
you're all retards. Just play the games you like dill weeds, screw the rest.
Dr_Ungglebutter on 24 Mar '10
Doesn't it make you wonder how, as clearly seen on almost all votes and comments above, that Modern Warfail 2 has a ridiculously high place still?

Not many voted for it yet it's still that far up? I did hear Activision have a large advertising budget.....
HBgamer on 24 Mar '10
cool. I didnt even know there was 50 games for the PS3... Smile Ive got a whole shelf of xbox games in my dvd cabinett and only 7 ps3 games Very Happy

that's because you need a blu-ray cabinet, not a dvd one. dvd's are so 1999 don't you know.
Tobal on 24 Mar '10
I agree with all of the games...Just not in that order.

Its not the worst top 50 ive ever seen.
__SpUtNiK__ on 24 Mar '10
@ gmctyphoon

If CODMW2 is the only game you feel is deserving of full price for the ps3 then you should pass your ps3 onto a more deserving person.
stedman on 24 Mar '10
Well i'll be! 50 decent games on the ps3!!!
Sorry there is only 1 game on that list I was willing to pay full price for & that was multi format MW2! I could have put some decent input in if it was 50 top games any format or 50 top games wii i'd still struggle but would be easier. Mad
If that is the only good game on ps3 then I have no idea what can impress you (oh wait the great game mw2 can!!!). I do believe in personal opinion but there is sometimes a wrong answer no matter which way you look at it.
Sleepaphobic on 24 Mar '10
Why is ever angry at the compiler when all he did was compile?
