Fils-Aime: Movie producers ask for Mario flick "all the time"

Disastrous Bob Hoskins outing not putting off Hollywood bigwigs
Nintendo America's president Reggie Fils-Aime has said that despite disastrous attempts to bring Mario to the big screen, Hollywood producers are still interested.

Nintendo America's president Reggi Fils-Aime has said that despite disastrous attempts to bring Mario to the big screen, Hollywood producers are still interested.

Accoding to Fils-Aime, the videogames giant is waiting for an offer of suitable quality, describing franchises such as Mario and Zelda as "our children".

"All the time," he told the LA Times when asked if produces still approached Nintendo. "The message is, 'Thank you for the interest.' There have been certain [people] that we have talked in more detail with."

"But I think in the end, because we are a content company and are passionate about our franchises, it will be few and far between that actual deals are done to bring our franchises to life in a different way. These are our children."

Not asking some short fat bloke to play Mario would certainly be a start. Just do a kiddie flick in CG - job's a good 'un.

Could help Nintendo make a profit out of Mario for once Wink

I LOVE THAT FILM! High point of the Hoskins career no doubt. At one point I had 12 copies of it in my possesion TWE-ELVE!

Epic Legend of Zelda series please.

Obviously a Mario CGI movie would make more sense than another terrible live action attempt.

If someone else was to take the reins on a project like this, you would want the best in the business i.e: Disney/Pixar! Otherwise develop it in-house like Capcom did with Resident Evil: Degeneration. The intros to Mario Galaxy and Super Smash Bros Brawl are excellent, and Camelot Software also done good CGI intros on both Mario Golf and Tennis for Cube.

I could see an 'Epic Blockbuster' Zelda film being made with live action and CGI effects. With someone like Peter Jackson or Jerry Bruckheimer producing. The only problem being that Link has never spoken and whatever actor plays him - be it American, British or Australian, would not satisfy the rest of us who would think "it should have been in our accent, not their annoying one!"

I don't know why people have such a superiority complex about things like that, as long as it is an accent without a stupid twang I'm down with it. Maybe he should be Russian?

Every year some poor bugger tries to make a decent movie of a video game.

They have all be atrocious!!!

This year's Prince of Persia looks likely to break this curse - who knows - maybe that'll suck too.

We shall wait and see!!!

For a Zelda-movie, why not be really ambitious and invent a language (Hyrulian)for the movie. Then maybe no one would be p**sed for "not using their accent". Just a thought. Wink

Hayao Miyazaki could sure make a good Zelda movie...

I will everyone else with the CG angle. It suits the style of Mario to a tee.
