It hasn't had a bad start, with both Aliens Vs Predator and Bayonetta doing damage to the Top Five of the UK chart in the first quarter of 2010.
In the first part of our Q&A;, Hayes admits that Madworld was "mismatched" to Wii and that the firm regrets the use of its classic IP in underwhelming titles such as Golden Axe.
In a refreshingly frank interview, Hayes said:
"It's important that on our old IP that is respected, we need to deliver a good product. And in some instances we have done that - look back at when we re-did Sega Rally. It scored well and was moderately successful commercially. But then with other great franchises like Golden Axe we didn't produce a great game at all.
"Going forward, if we're going to look at any existing IP to bring out the locker, we have to make sure we get the quality to a level we now expect. I'm not saying which IP it would be - a Streets Of Rage, a Crazy Taxi, whatever. What we have to do now is build something that is 85 per cent plus [rated]. We can't just get away with PR."
2.5D or whatever - but keep it side scrolling!!! was addicted to that game on megadrive. even today i can pull off all the variations of the moves without thinking.

Sega should get around to porting their very best arcade hits from 1995 and beyond, imagine Daytona 1 & 2,Sega rally ,Manx T.T,Scud race,Sega touring car,Le mans and their other oddball arcade games coming to xbox arcade or better yet just do an arcade greatest hits collection and release it on disc.Alot of people would go ape for this.SORT IT SEGA!
Seconded, it just seems the perfect game to throw onto Live & PSN for those quick bursts of gameplay. Either that or 18 Wheeler:American Pro Trucker. Defo need a Live version of Sports Jam though.

People have been wanting Daytona on Live/PSN for ages - it's actually strange that they haven't released it yet, it'd be a sure-fire hit.
I still play it on Dreamcast and it's still an utterly fantastic game.
Manx TT is another great game, but it looks like hell these days - I actually managed to find one of the old arcade machines and couldn't resist, but it does look awful by todays standards.
I think that Sega have done great work this gen with stuff like Valkyria Chronicles and Yakuza 3. Madworld on the Wii as well while I'm at it. And now Sonic 4? They're spoiling us. All we need now is Shenmue 3 to be announced, Yakuza 4 & 5 to come to the west and Shenmue 1 & 2 to be made downloadable.
... and I wouldn't, which is exactly the problem SEGA has. It's a game I could play on my Dreamcast for half-hour max before switching it off to play something else.
Afterburner Climax needs to be very good. A new (2D style) Streets of Rage or Golden Axe would need to be very good. A new Daytona USA would need to be very good... A new Virtua Cop or House of the Dead would need to be very good, etc.
Sega Rally (the newest one), Golden Axe (the newest one), Outrun Online (the newest one)... All varied between mediocre to good, but none of them were really, really - great.
Frankly, I think SEGA would best serve the public by finishing off Shenmue with part III and doing something new & interesting with the Panzer Dragoon and Ecco franchises. I'm sure there's more I haven't thought of just now.
P.S. I really couldn't care less about getting Shenmue and Shenmue II on PSN or XBLA. Having finished both games over a period of years, I can say it's extremely unlikely that I'd revisit either game to play through again - though a DVD like chapter select might make for an interesting distraction for a couple of hours. Again, I'm sure many of you won't agree with me and that's fine.

Which is why it would be perfect for a Live/PSN release at around 800pts/£7. One of those games you could just fire on for a quick blast.
There's quite a lot of old Sega games that could benefit from a Live/PSN release like, as some people have already said, Daytona and Sega Rally. Ok Virtua On was a bit of a stinker (though i did love it on the saturn and arcade) but they have a huge back catalogue that could do with a bit of a spit and polish, add in some online play and leaderboards and they'd sell very well.
I know myself and a lot of my mates would buy a lot of them first day especially Sega Rally and Sports Jam.

No. You would. I wouldn't.
The problem with your argument is that Crazy Taxi *IS* one of those games I could just fire up for a quick blast - and to be honest, it's not something I've done - which says it all. There's plenty of other games to play. I enjoyed the various challenges on DC Crazy Taxi, but not so much the arcade mode.
To be honest, I much prefer Outrun, Rally, Daytona USA... I wouldn't buy Crazy Taxi yet again - I don't rate it with the aforementioned.
If Scud Race came out, then that I would get. An arcade perfect version (or Saturn perfect version) of Rally would get a purchase from me, but not if it played anything like the mediocre Rally game that was released just a few years ago. SEGA note my use of language... Arcade perfect.
... and no, I'm not just being a c**t. SEGA could do much better than they have with their IP. The article this comments thread belongs to admits as much.

Well i haven't played Crazy Taxi since my Dreamcast went t**s up so i'd love to revisit it. And it would have to be the DC version for the extras. I agree they would have to be at least Saturn perfect versions of Daytona and Rally (which i still have(and your right about that version that came out a few years ago, it'd have to be the original version for me. i didn't like the sequel for the Dreamcast either)) and arcade perfect Scud Race would be great, maybe even bring us Sega Touring Championship as well.
But their releases like the new Golden Axe have been p**s poor as would a new Streets of Rage. They should stick to being a publishing house except for when they bring us little gems like Yakuza.
theres no taxi missions in IV, so its pointless - may as well jump in a decent car.
There was in the first island when you could work for Romans cab firm by using the phone. Can't quite remember if you could after the office burned down though.
Just release some Saturn (Panzer Zwei would be a nice start, seeing as you've "lost" PDZ...) and Dreamcast games (Crazy Taxi and the original JSR, as well as Power Stone would be a good start there) on Live/PSN and get working on Shenmue III for 360/PS3 and all is forgiven Sega!

Cool. Just one thing. Saturn Daytona was Daytona CCE. That was alright, but Daytona USA on Dreamcast was much, much better.
I'm sure there's no reason an arcade perfect version of Daytona USA couldn't be done very well on today's hardware. Throw in Daytona 2 cars, handling and tracks, plus also throw in Virtua Racing as a secret unlockable bonus for finishing the game. That's the sort of treatment SEGA should be dishing out to fans these days.
I'm still a bit disappointed in that Outrun Online Arcade didn't come with a HD version of the original. I would much prefer to play the original game with HD artwork than the newer version, though I do think the new one is good.
Not that it's SEGA, but I'm still lamenting over a lack of HD Tetris on PSN. I shouldn't really have a go at developers and much less - publishers, but I do wonder sometimes what the f**k these people are thinking of, let alone what they're up to.

that was just to fone a cab for yourself im sure.
dont think you take people around...
and panzer zwei is a prime candidate for HD. best on-rails blaster ever. soundtrack was epic.

saga was amazing too. RPG but.
Saga was amazing. I still have a mint condition copy of that. In fact, I still have the first disc that was given away free with SSM, which I kept in the Zwei box. Best coverdisc ever.
Definately Sega Saturn & Arcade racing collection please (Original Sega Rally 1&2, Daytona, Scud Race, Manx TT and Touring Cars).
Panzer 1, 2 and Saga collection.
New Shining Force rpg, new Burning Rangers, new Nights into Dreams (I still have the xmas limited edition that was given away in stores - not the one that came with Saturn Magazine, although I have that one too) and some kind of updated Fighters Megamix.
There must be a few others I have forgotten about but I would like Sega to do the above (plus release good new IP's of course)

No you defo could work for the firm as well but as i said i think it was just for the start of the game and you had to use the phone to start it (pretty sure Roman phones you saying if you need to make some money he'll give you some work), once you moved up to your second house in the top island (after the arson attacks) you couldn't.
And yes any of the Panzer games would be great for a HD remake. Got many fond memories of playing Zwei on the Saturn. Infact it may well be in my Saturn box of games.
Imagine the money they would make regularly releasing classics onto PSN/Live. Loads of games they should look at putting on there or releasing as full games but making sure they put the required effort and development into them.
Shenmue 3 Wing Wars Streets Of Rage 4 Daytona Sega Tank arcade (cant remember exact name) sega rally All the virtua games Altered Beast remake Eternal Champions update (hated by some, but i liked it)
etc etc. I could list so many its untrue. Come on Sega, pull your finger out.
ach well. i got roman killed for selling out (tired of doing the dish served cold mission)
bring back fighting vipers.
one of the coolest saturn games ever. smacking your opponent through the fence at the end of a round, or with skill, uppercutting them and impaling them on it. (then jump up and roundhouse them off it again)
A proper Jet Set radio sequel please. I don't care what console its on.
Another Dragon Force, Maybe a remake of burning rangers. Panza dragoon saga 2 perhaps.
Hell. Sega have a huge back catilogue of old series they could pilage and resurrect and i'd be happy. So long as they were good. I don't want another golden axe beast warrior. Way to destroy fond childhood memories guys.
1/ Shenmue 3. 2/ Space Harrier HD remix. 3/ Outrun HD remix. 4/ Sega Rally HD remix. 5/ Saturn classics like Panzer Dragoon. 6/ Megadrive classics like Thunder force 3/4 and Revenge of Shinobi HD remix..............ooh imagine that!!!!!!......drool.
What i gotta do to see these? Buy the friggin company!!!!!

they've already brought out decent HD versions of Sega Rally and Outrun on both the PS3 and 360. You can pick up Sega Rally for a £5 in some places.

Bloomin eck, i've got something in common with SVD. Streets of rage is probably my favorite game of all time and i too loved hulring punks through breackable objects or off lifts or through holes in bridges, as Blaze. I coudl do all her moves and even used to work out which combination of moves did the most damage once I had the guys in my hands, a bit sad maybe but I loved the games so much. I have been praying for a modern streets of rage for ages, but was always scared they would runin it, it would have to be side scrolling and keep the feel of the origianl, with lots of combos for each character.
