Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light screens

First details on downloadable Tomb Raider
The first screens and details on Eidos' new Tomb Raider, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light have arrived.

As you can see below, the game - which we've already dubbed 'Lego Lara' - has you and a mate avoiding traps and solving puzzles in an isometric co-op fest.

The second character in the game is a Mayan warrior called Totec, who has unique abilities Lara will have to make use of if she's to collect all those Lego blocks at the end of the level (not really).

As was revealed last week, the Crystal Dynamics-developed Croft outing will be released this year via digital download.

See, I knew it. There was no way this would have been a fully fledged title like the last few Tomb Raider games if this was going to be a download only release. This is basicaly going to disappoint any TR fans who were expecting something... more.

So a bit like an isometric Trine then? Feared they'd mess with the Tomb Raider formula when they dropped the name, but this may still be good. Always want more co-op games to play.

Looks alright from the screen shots, sure it'll appeal to trad TR fans & new ones alike until the mooted franchise reboot materialises. Shame Crystal Dynamics don't seem to be looking at the Soul Reaver IP for next gen though, that would be very nice

damn i miss Tomb Raider Legend. it had a great story (for a tomb raider game) and underworld just didnt deliver on wrapping it up.

im still convinced someone could make a truly great tomb raider game, like the one underworld could have been. it clearly wasnt (rushed, bland and buggy), but this spin off isnt it.

Tomb Raider was a great game back in its day, (a little slow for my taste tho) but its hasn't really matured, when games like Unchartered are doing so well, its hard to see why TR has lost its appeal.

It need to go back to the drawing board with a dev who knows what they are doing (Naughty Dog anyone?...)

What the buttholey-hell am I looking at?

I guess this is why there's no "Tomb Raider" in the title? Crying or Very sad

It is a shame that there won't be any more Soul Reaver games. But i think pretty much everyone involved in them has since left Crystal Dynamics anyway. If we did get a new soul reaver i hope its a complete reboot rather than a sequel.

I think they're one of the few that could not only save the title, but make it worth coming back for more.

Oh dear. Why is Lara so small? And why would you want to play as some random Mayan guy? Co-op puzzle game you say?...I really enjoyed the last three Tomb Raider games but this one's not looking good so far I have to say.
