Sony America's publisher relations head Rob Dyer has said Sony has handled the whole motion controller PR really well and not done a "PR barrage" like Microsoft.
Dyer told IndustryGamers, "Rather than go out and do a whole PR barrage to give everybody the 'happy, happy, joy, joy' news, we're going to show up and have a line-up of products to show people rather than having a lot of great statements to say, 'This is what's going to happen.'"
Adding fuel to the fire, Dyer continued, "From a third-party perspective it's easier to develop for, you can use the same code base that you currently use for PS3 or 360 or even the Wii in order to get a motion controller game out. You can't do that with Natal.
"You have to have a completely separate code base and my feeling is that we're going to have a lot more games, a lot more innovation - particularly with the camera and the precision - versus what you'll have with Natal or the Wii.
"We can all sit around here and debate that... but the fact is I'm not having any trouble getting third-party support."
Id rather buy a game from a potentially nice yank than some Japenese "im so samurai" guy and before you call me a fanboy i owned both my ps3 broke down twice charged me £150

To be honest he has a point. MS have said an awful lot about Natal and how it will transform gaming. However, MS haven't said anything about the games it has lined up for it. They would have of been better off keeping their mouths shut until they had the games to show us why we would want Natal.
Sony has done it's self no harm in keeping quiet about it's motion controller until it has the games ready to show with it.
Hilarious, Playstation's PR so far has been a bit daft and non-mainstream so far, trying to get overvalued peer based twitter and facebook buzz.
MS have been far more mainstream and traditional hitting things like the Metro & Jonathan Ross and have for the motion control audience been far more bang on target in terms of getting non gamers talking about this 'futuristic thing that MS are releasing
Which one will be better - who knows, if MS pull off what they promise, we will be in for a treat.
But like the sony PR god said it is going to be a whole lot easier to develop for the Gem for developers because of the tech crossover with the wii, we could potentially see Sony delivering thier promise sooner than the riskier Natal tech
This is really getting ridiculous, but even Sony can't honestly believe this to be true.
Fact is, the Gem (or whatever it's called) could end up as something far more useful - in gaming terms - than Natal. We're all still waiting to really see what either can do, but Gem seems a little less ambitious and (should Natal fail to really do anything commercially, or if developers just don't incorporate it) I can see Sony getting some titles that would usually be exclusive for the Wii. This really isn't a bad thing for Sony.
However, Sony have been shockingly bad with their marketing and advertising this gen. They've picked up greatly in the past 18 months, but I'd still say that MS have them covered in that department.
However terrible Natal may end up being - it'll certainly be advertised to the hilt. You won't be able to move for Natal when it's released....but, that works, whatever this a**e might say.

Just so you know its not a clone by any means. Unlike the Wii the Arc measures depth. Wii can only operate on the X and Y axis and has a gyroscope to measure rotations. Its like a Wii on steroids. And with the beefed up graphics/physics engines every game will be a dream compared to Wii. Why do you think so many developers are leaving the wii for sony. They wouldnt do that if it was just an exact copy.
So Sony say that they're going to deliver innovation and games and not get tangled up in PR....

Well i can name 3 things sony haven't done better then microsoft, the control pad ,Psn, and one of the worst things sony f**ked up the headset! Im loving uncharted 2 online at the moment its just a shame that nobody talks and the few that do sound like the old ps2 killzone days i,e crap! And yes i have the offical sony headset.

I actually think MS's PR ovr motion control has worked well. Becuase people are excited by it and are looking foward to it, and that is what PR is all about. The only problem with that is, when it turns out to be a laggy piece of s**te it'll blow up in their face.

Come and buy our fantastic console. It'll need to be replaced several times, offers inadequate storage, isn't as powerful as the PS3, doesn't offer free online, and has less upcoming exclusives...

Saying that something like Metro 2033 looks cool and is pretty much under the radar at the moment, that may surprise me when I get it but I dont know if it will be as good as the confirmation of Reach and Alan Wakes excellence will bring.

Halo Reach and Alan Wake are being developed by highly respected developers, so there is no problem in having a high expectation for those games. Also, Remedy have not been hyping up Alan Wake by saying it is better than this, or that. That shows a quiet confidence.
It's the same quiet confidence that Sony seem to be showing for the shiny wheener.
I have a funny feeling that there will be some awesome games for the wand upon release. I only say that because Sony are quite happy releasing it alongside Natal.
I'm personally looking forward to both, yet because of the hype, my expectations of Natal are much higher than those of the 'Neon Todger'.

We have already seen the likes of resi 5 being played with the wand (early demo), and that is probably the sort of thing that would interest me more than what I have seen from natal - jumping around like a loon trying to hit a ball

I love the fact that everyone bangs on that the arc/gem/vibrator is better than the Wii controller. For a start, thats like saying, my fiesta 2010 is better than your fiesta 2006. Well first of all, no s**t! it f**king should be coming out 4+ years after! but in my eyes, it just isn't. it cant be. unless the arc/gem/c**k has a accelorometer and a gyration sensor built inside, it will be much worse than the wiimote. and using a webcam to track items isnt as great as people think. natal is using NEW technology. I dont pretend to understand it or know it inside out, but it is NEW tech, not something that could have been done 10+ years ago. I had "eyetoy" like games on my PC back in 2000 so there is no difference in tracking a human, than tracking a specific device. Which would make things much easier to track as you can program the camera to detect the specific device you want it to track. So there is NOTHING stopping microsoft from releasing a firmware for the natal to say, oh and track this one handed controller too. making both the natal and the arc/gem/winkey exactly the friggin same! but may I add the natal measures "depth" too. and the wii with motion plus, can detect depth.
and yes Sony, you wont make any silly PR slurs, unlike microsoft. like microsoft rely on thrid party software, and people are leaving wii, and sooo many other PR bulls**t coming out of your bottom. MS are t**ts in regard to PR slurs too but nowhere NEAR as much as Sony. I'm just glad to be a Nintendo Fanboy as they just stay quiet and swim in the bank like Scrooge McDuck.

The Dpad(NES), shoulder buttons(SNES), wireless controller (NES), (dance mat (NES) start and select (NES), rumble(N64) Analogue sticks(N64), motion malarky(gameboy color and Wii) the only big one they arent a trend setter for is analogue triggers, which was the saturn.

Yup it's clear that Sony look to clear up 2010 as well. That’s right 2009 also belonged to Sony. While Xbox 360 users had to wait until the end of the year for a full blown AAA game (Forza 3) that wasn’t an add on (ODST), downloadable content (GTA4) or an Online only game (L4D2), PS3 users enjoyed Killzone 2, Infamous, Ratchet and Clank A Crack In Time and Uncharted 2.

Now, now , random here 1984, none of that ( although i "accidentally" LMFAO). I must say i am quite partial to the Sony PlayStation brand, however i do believe Natal is a genuinely innovative product,tracking 3d motion in low light conditions to the fingertips isn't too be sniffed at! The 3d breakout game showed excellent potential for vigorous exercising too. Arc/wand looks very good , interesting demos,good precision and interesting patent for different heads (which i cant find right now), so really its down to what they do with the tech,.............. Phew, im just relieved to get through a post , without falling into a ridiculous technological quoting back and forth argument, and (wipes brow) i certainly am going to make a huge effort to avoid making/or commenting on any Juvenile statements that could be construed as negative or in any way offensive to folk who have chosen to spend there free time on a xbox360 , talking of which i see that "super meat boy " is coming on to the xbox 360 soon, interesting to me,as coincidentally, many xbox360 owners mothers, wives and sisters have referred to myself, with that moniker over the past few years......oopsy
