Call Of Duty 7 release date - November

Rumour confirmed by senior UK trade source; Game takes cue from Apocalypse Now
CVG can confirm that Activision has pencilled in a November release for the seventh Call Of Duty - which will be set in the late 1960s, during the Vietnam War.

Following this week's rumours, a senior UK trade source today told us that the Treyarch-developed title is scheduled to arrive a full 12 months after last year's Modern Warfare 2.

They added that the game would be set during the Vietnam conflict - and takes particular influence from classic movies Apocalypse Now and Platoon.

"It's going to be November again - just as with World At War and Modern Warfare 2," they told CVG.

"Activision believes that it can own Christmas 2010, just as it has in the last two years.

"Development is on course - and Treyarch have been told the game must be ready to hit shelves before the gifting season."

Activision declined to comment when contacted by CVG.

Seriously? A Call of Duty game just before Christmas? I'm in a state of shock... Rolling Eyes

How about 'NO' Activision. Done with your games I'm afraid, and your franchise flogging attitude. I'm voting with my wallet.

Boring!
Doubt I'll bother with this outing, going back to crap weapons, no thanks!

Bobby must be so proud. While it's much to early to say what this latest CoD iteration will be like in terms of quality, it now seems quite clear that Activision has completed the process of turning the CoD franchise in to a yearly milking exercise. That in itself isn't a problem as long as the games are "good" but given past track records with such turn-around dates I'm inclined to think the CoD series is well and truly dead after the "MW2" debacle. Perhaps Treyarch will surprise me and reinvigorate the series, but I won't be holding my breath.

Welcome to the club. I started doing that with "MW2". Activision will essentially have to do what EA has done over the past year before I'm willing to get back on-board with them.
The_KFD_Case on 7 Jan '10
All I can say is oh dear, but all those morons will lap this up in and instant and the reviews will say its the best game of the year Rolling Eyes
JuiKuen on 7 Jan '10
Oh that's just great. Now we'll have one game released in November because other companies will be too pussified to release their games at the same time. I really don't want to see delays or release dates purposely put back until the year after because of one clone.. erm.. game.

I don't think we need a new Call of Duty. I'm not done with MW2 yet. But I would like to try some guerilla tactics.

Why are you getting so worked up? No one is forcing you to buy these games. I'm personally not interested in the Treyarch Call of Duty games, so I doubt I'll be buying it.

I liked modern warfare 1 before the chavs came and ruined i with there amazing lobbie banter, then party chat came and fixed that, so i carried on playing in my usuall good humour. Why take it out of modern warfare 2 infinity ward!!! And id rather contract herpies then by another treyarch game, so halo reach will be for me.

never owned a cod game ever. played mw and thought "meh counter-strike was better". anyway the complaints revolve around the constant rehashes and the fact that so many games are delayed / undersold and good games get lost in the hype behind this overrated series that has added no joy to my gaming life. no thanks for this garbage.
splojgonxee on 7 Jan '10
This is exciting news!

It's exciting because I am not excited about the prospect of such a COD game, and expect developers will feel the same and not be discouraged from releasing titles in the run up to christmas. Choice is a good thing.

sounds cool to me. i'll pick the wii version up in a heartbeat,i'm loving 'reflex' online.

i might be in the minority here but i prefer waw to mw2 and am quite looking forward to treyarchs next cod.

more than iw's next effort anyway....
ste hicky on 7 Jan '10
Activision will ruin themselves. They are relying on too many franchises at present and one day the interest will fall in COD. Has it changed much since COD2? Not really, play COD2 again and then come back and tell me it has changed. It's the same game.

Multiplayer is ok, but each new version is just a rehash of the year before with a few changes.

I can see a time very soon when the bottom drops out of Activision's key franchises. Guitar Hero, Call of Duty bring in the bulk of their money. And when these titles fail Activision will be in trouble because it will happen quick and without warning.

glad i've not been a sheep and followed the flock in adopting to COD. the probable reason they are keen to get another game out is because of the reception it has recieved. just like the Halo series, they have taken it too far. I'll stick to the lesser hyped games thank you very much
1589vaughan on 7 Jan '10
Ive been playing the coD series since its launch way back in 2003, Ive also owned every CoD game released since then (minus the ps2 rehashes which I dont count), I however wont be buying this, Activision can rot as far as im concerned.
DAEDALUS79 on 7 Jan '10
As long as they fix the difficulty, I'll consider purchasing this.

CoD:WAW wasn't that hard, but the constant rain of grenades made me nearly throw my controller out the window, several times.

It was nearly impossible on the veteran difficulty.

I gave up with the Veteran on WaW. The sniper section was infuriating, with the guy in the building.

The Veteran modes are more a case of perseverance than skill, you just keep plugging away until you somehow manage to make it through.

For example, you can have one guy left to kill and suddenly 3 grenades just spawn immediately under your feet. The game engine literally just spawns them under you, you never see them get thrown they just appear out of thin air. Like one guy can throw three grenades perfectly under your feet.

This maybe the first call of duty games i will not by for 5 years. Although i respect Tryache the the COD 5 multiplayer 6 months after released, i just personally now hate Activison more than i have ever hated EA i knew they were milking at guitar hero 4 never mind COD 5 or 6

I for one will be holding off judgement until you know, I see the game, so I can appear rational....

"Development is on course - and Treyarch have been told the game must be ready to hit shelves before the gifting season." A sad quote, and this attitude will ultimately be COD downfall.

I'm curious about the Vietnam setting, but thats really about it. I'm far more interested in COD 7 competition this year, namely Bad Company 2.

COD is doing to the games industry what X Factor has done for the music industry. Year after year the same old thing gets churned out to fill the corporate giants wallets.
Can we have something interesting this year at Christmas, rather than another COD game? Please people, do something about it -_-

That wish of yours is already being granted. Around Nov.-Dec. last year there were around 53,000+ sold PC copies of "MW2", while an estimated 3 million pirated copies are around. That's what they get for setting the PC version 15 years back in the MP arena with the aim of controlling micro-transactions and milking map releases, while denying any mods. That they also had the audacity to increase the RRP and then claim that those of us whom were complaining had financial reasons as to why we wouldn't support their new milking system simply took the biscuit. f**k IW and Activision. Let both of those companies die, and quickly.

I haven't bought a cod since cod2.
I played mw1, and disliked it. I saw mw2 being played and hated it. I heard bad things about the ones in between.

CoD 1 was good because it was a new take on the world war fps, but mainly because of the multiplayer.
After that, it got old fast.
Nollog on 11 Jan '10
I seriously think they should've wrapped it up with 6. If they concentrated more on the quality of that game it could've made a decent game. But now they're just milking it. All the developers they own could've made completely brilliant games but they were forced to waste their time making Call of Duties.

EA, which used to be very similar, however, allowed Dice to make a new game, which was Mirror's Edge, and it was completely original and set the standard for graphics, as did Crysis.

good a VEITNAM CALL OF DUTY SOUNDS BETTER than modern warfare 2. MODERN WARFARE 2 SUCKS i think CALL OF DUTY WORLD AT WAR IS BETTER THAN MW2 infact i play it more than mw2 THEY ALSO SHOULD ADD ZOMBIES INTO THE NEXT CALL OF DUTY. there have
been some people that have said zombies wouldent work for a veitnam era but i think it would just like they made it work for call of duty world at war and i think treyarch makes better games than infintyward.this is the reason why i say modern warfare 2 sucks 1.they need to make make were you can play the original story line not spec ops 2. make better maps and maps that arnt so big 3.add zombies. so they should make a call of duty veitnam and add zombies to it
jehamann on 18 Jan '10
Call of Duty 7 - what I like to see in the up coming Call of Duty.

Add breathing sounds to the character like Shellshock Blood Trails.

Add a white muzzle flash to all weapons like Medal of Honor Airborne.

Add better handling and accuracy to all primary weapons when firing from the hip.

Add the main character with troops who will heal the player before dying in a level.

Add lots and lots of racial remarks when combating VC troops.

Add VC females fighting against American troops.

Add a large verity wide battlefield to adventure with lots and lots of booby traps.

Add day and night missions with rainy weather or make it optional to the player to chance weather conditions within levels.

Add NO more indicators or make it optional to the player to turn it off or on (It is really annoying to hear the guy keep saying “the predator drone is ready, the predator drone is ready” over and over with a blinking indicator in front of the screen - really annoying)

Allow the player to carry two primary weapons, a machete and one sidearm like Shellshock Nam 67.

Allow the player to choose a weapon before entering a combat zone like Shellshock Nam 67.

Add close up shoots when a grenade or bullet rips an enemy body part off like in Brothers In Arms Hell’s Highway.

I am also interested to see a difference when holding a rifle or assault weapon in the game. For example, don’t have a rifle or assault weapon always in the “ready-position” to shoot, but have the weapon in the position similar to the running mode position.

Add a shadow to the character like KillZone 2.

Add when having two weapons like two Colt 45s, or mini guns don’t have the weapons just pointing forward when firing but each weapon locks on the nearest enemy and gives the player a much greater chance to take down enemy numbers faster. Note: this could be optional in menu option by activating it or turning it off.

Add when taking cover behind a wall, have the player’s weapon facing downward and once the player presses the R1 button to shoot, the weapon comes upward instead this time, something new to think on.

Add lots of gore and blood, but also make all missions as action pack as KillZone 2.

Add single-player bonus missions allowing gamers to fight in missions on the side of the VC or American.

Add single-player bonus missions allowing gamers to fly an F105 or F4 jet in bombing VC, NVA positions and it is possible to eject and escape capture from local VC in the area before the big “Jolly Greens“ come in to rescue the player.

Add NO timers during missions! BORING!

Add “Cluster Bombs”, “Unlimited Ammo” and “God Mode” to the menu option.

Players are flown into combat by Huey gunship.

DO NOT make the M14 just a sniper rifle!

I hope this time (like in the PlayStation 2 game called “Black”) we can choose “semi-automatic”, “single-shoot”, or “fully-automatic” for weapons like the M16 and the M14 rifles.

Have the weapons when firing them, sound more rustier and louder and not like the pathetic sound the AK47 in COD6 Modern Warfare 2 but something along the lines like COD4 Modern Warfare.

Allow the player to type in a code or choose weather condition in menu options; for example, if the player wants to change the weather condition he can by simply activating a “rainy”, “sunny”, “night” or “daylight” something like that to keep a player interest a little more in a level.

STOP with “INDICATORS” and “CROSS-HAIR”! Have the “white cross-hair” appear only when it comes in contact with an enemy soldier or make it optional in menu options.

Add for the first time in any game LEFT HAND riflemen - not just the player.

Let the player operate an M60 in a Huey in combat.

Allow a player to customize his or her own character! (If this will be possible, add many things a player can choose from!)
(If it is possible) Try to mix Third-Person-Shooter-Mode with First-Person-Mode while playing the game.

Add CIVILIANS this time in the game. Allow the player to shoot as many civilians as the player wishes.

To add more missions to the game, allow the players to have nightmare missions like in Max Payne the game.

Add a character like Max Payne be the main character.

PLEASE (DO NOT) ADD THE SAME BORING-ASS HIPPY MUSIC THAT WE ALL HEARD FROM MOVIES LIKE “PLATOON” – BORING AS HELL!!!

Allow the player to RUN FASTER AND LONGER and not like in the massacre at the airport in COD6.

STOP making every leader like in Call of Duty 4 and 6 a black person. How about a white person for once? (No, I am not racist, just saying “for once”).

Allow the player to be a LEFT handed or RIGHT handed shooter during missions in menu options.

Have a soldier with a medium white or tan towel under his helmet (see Born on Fourth of July to know what I mean when they cleared out a hut, look at the black person when the officer tells his men to move out, saying “it wasn’t your fault…)

I hope the American GI depicted in Call of Duty 7 DO NOT walk as they do in the other Call of Duty games. I would like to see something different, like Gis holding their rifles in the middle with their right or left hand and with the butt of the rifle under their armpits as they walk because in Viet Nam it rains a lot and can be very hot and humid at the sometime.

Do not have a white streak or any other kind of streak when throwing a grenade. In addition to that when a grenade blows up, let us see a bigger explosion!

Have weapons and explosives make different sounds; for example, firing a weapon in a house or building sounds a lot different than firing a weapon in the field.

Allow the player to choose a weapon before entering a combat zone (from sidearm to primary weapon).

Allow the player to choose what types of clips for his weapons of chose he makes; for example like a 50+ round drum magazine to his AK47.

In Medal of Honor Airborne, the First-Person-Shooter has the ability to move around while aiming his weapon behind cover (if you do not know what I mean, play the game MOHA. It is awesome and type of thinking out of the box I like).

Allow an enemy soldier to “jump you” should the player get too close instead of the enemy standing there in one point dumbfounded reloading for the next shoot or trying to hit you with the butt of the rifle but tackle the player in open combat in the field this time instead of within a house!

Add an M60 machinegun that looks like the M60 in Shellshock 2 Blood Trails with the tan ammo pouch!

Add a mission where the player is a tank driver/gunner in an M48 Patton in Hue City, Viet Nam!

Make all level more intense than KillZone 2 and Call of Duty 6 combined!!!

Modern Lagfare 2. AT least treyarch provides the global gaming community with local search.

MW2 is laggy garbage unless u live in usa. Gimme a good connection over modern weapons any day.

Mw2 blew it with no local search, i'll never buy another infinity ward game again if it doesnt have local search.

Add lots and lots of racial remarks when combating VC troops.

first off that wont happen, racism will lead to problems and frankly i dont like racism

Add day and night missions with rainy weather or make it optional to the player to chance weather conditions within levels.

im pretty sure theres already missions like this

Allow the player to carry two primary weapons, a machete and one sidearm like Shellshock Nam 67.

wouldnt that kinda eliminate the point of choosing weapons carefully?

Add single-player bonus missions allowing gamers to fly an F105 or F4 jet in bombing VC, NVA positions and it is possible to eject and escape capture from local VC in the area before the big “Jolly Greens“ come in to rescue the player.

its called spec ops..you should try it

Add NO timers during missions! BORING!

taking away timers would make it boring...some of us want a challenge

bassically what you have done is stated prefference, some ideas i like, but i would prefer enjoyment to realism anyday.

all 3 of the past 3 games have had good points if they brought all these together they might actually be able to sell it

for example :

Multiplayer of CoD4

Zombies of CoD5 WAW

Campaign/Spec Ops of CoD6 MW2
