It's been on top since mid-January and there's no stopping it yet - the PSP has come out on top of another week of hardware sales in Japan, almost hitting the 40 thousand mark.
For the week of February 8th-14th, Sony flogged 39,293 of the traditional-shaped version of the portable (the PSPgo still lags way down in last), according to Media Create figures.
It's worth noting, though, that totalling PSP sales with the PSPgo comes out at 40687, while grouping the three separate DS figures totals at 51327 - clearly Nintendo's pockets aren't suffering from PSPs storm.
Here's the full figures:
PSP 39,293 Wii 37,501 DSi LL 27,586 PS3 24,811 DSi 18,082 DS Lite 5,659 Xbox 360 3,428 PS2 1,869 PSP go 1,394
It's simple, they think people want to download because of the success of the Ipod, unfortunately they really havent made it easy to download and should definately have held it back for the next generation of psp's and added another analogue stick with touchscreen.
Im hoping that Sony will have learnt alot about what works and what doesnt this generation and hopefully they realise it isnt how impressive the consoles look or how we are told they perform but they actually get the good unique exclusive games out to showcase the consoles. More Unchartered, LPB, God of War and Heavy Rain's, less predictions, forecasts and PR statements. Great games sell good consoles not the other way round.
There's a reason why the go failed, digital distribution, you'd have to be a complete fool to go dd when it comes to video games, the cons faaar outway the pros.
Pros: Accessible from one menu No more clutter
Cons: No trade ins No pre-owned corrupt memory=by by collection You never own it, sure you technically never own the discs either but unlike the discs they can enforce it to some degree..
I'm so glad the go flopped, hopefully Sony got the message.
