Sonic Classic Collection for the DS has been given a release date.
We knew that it was going to be released some time in March this year, but the newest Sega release schedule has the game penned for March 12.
Sonic Classic Collection was announced in December last year, whacking the first four Sonic The Hedgehog games; Sonic, Sonic 2, Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles onto one disc. Sega said that the games were ported to take full advantage of the DS and came with a 'save anywhere' feature.
Will you be picking up the collection for a quick nostalgia fix?
it is getting a joke now tbh, they cant make a sega saturn collection ive heard so i cant cry for that haha, but thiers way too many sonic collections ffs, hell theres even one for ds next month, i want sonic 4
Anyway, how many times must a classic Sega pack be released. Sega are as bad as Nintendo.
Now, while I dont condone piracy, if you ever owned these games originally and feel all nostalgic about it. Download an emulator and try them out on your PC before buying it again. I promise they dont play as well as you remember.
If you have previously owned these games and have threw out you old console, I dont see the problem with downloading a ROM. When you buy a game, you buy the license to play that game and are entitled to a digital backup.
if they put in a little bit of effort i'm sure they could make some kind of saturn collection. there were so many under appreciated gems on that machine.

I hate to go against the general sentiment of "boo hoo why they keep releasing old sonic games boo hoo" but I like old sonic games and I like playing platformers on my DS, so I'm all for this collection. So why don't you all stop being so grumpy, if you don't like it buy something else and leave it on the shelf for those of us that want it.

Then there's all the stuff on the DC that could be bundled. Crazy taxi, Shen Mue, jet set radio,
I just don't understand why they don't give us collections or sequels to games past the MD.[/quote
ive heard the emulationg for the saturn would be tricky and the games would take up too much disk space, id love a sega saturn collection
Its already been done. and the average size of a saturn rom is 50-200mb.
ooo, ive seen people on forums talk like its impossible to have a sega saturn collection due too the size of the games, all i know is sega needs to stop with the megadrive cow allready, its getting old thiers only so much collections they can do before they realise thier lookin silly
a saturn collection would be wicked, especially with guardian heroes, nights, panzer dragoon, vf 1 and 2 and loads more
I own most of the Sonic games on umpteen formats already, spanning the Mega Drive, PSP, PC, Wii and GameCube. I therefore feel no need to purchase this.
I'm not against this being released but it seems a little half bottomd. What so you can't include Sonic CD at all? Or not even some of the extra sonic games. Hell even some footage of Sonic Xtreme would have been pretty cool and made it something different.
To be honest you're better off finding a cheap mega collection and maybe gems and then you've got them all to play on the wii as it takes gamecube discs!
There's simply no point. The number of platforms they've been ported onto couldn't be counted. Some of the less mainstream games like Sonic CD which seems allright, but has a strong cult following, ought to be considered instead.
I do like the idea of a Saturn compliation. I remember the console fondly, mostly only for the games that I shouldn't have been playing for my age (Quake, Loaded, Alien Trilogy, Hexen to name some) and SEGA made some fantastic games that still have their own cult followings. At the very least I'd like to see Panzer Dragoon 1 remastered as a console Arcade game.
