Killzone 3 details in "next few months"

PSM3 mag tips imminent reveal for FPS
PS3 owners should expect to see the first details on Killzone 3 in the "next few months", according to the latest issue of PSM3.

The mag's latest rumour column simply says to "expect more on Guerilla's FPS sequel over the next few months." E3 perhaps?

The statement backs up a previous report by Official PlayStation Magazine, which said last year that Killzone 3 is "reportedly deep in development" and to expect it on shelves in 2010.

Of course the big PS3 shooter three-quel we were all expecting this year is Resistance 3, which has already been outed by a Hollywood movie set. Add in Halo and CoD7 and it's going to be a busy year for the FPS.

Buy your copy of PSM3 and have it delivered to your door.

Would much rather a new Killzone that Resistance (but i know theres one comming) first. The second resistance wasn't even upto scratch compared to the first one!!

Ah, you're on about Reach aren't you?

i have a feeling resistance 3 will make it out before killzone 3. Insomniac have had a good 2 years and a bit which is more than guerilla. I just hope they don't rush kz3 and bring out killzone 2 with extra bits instead.
Either way 2010 is going to be an orgy of great gaming and shooting people in the face Very Happy

Really? I've rented the first one and I think it's very average. I've reached the later chapters and can't be bothered anymore, so I'll be sending it back sharpish.

Was I one of the few who thought it was s**t I'm not a fanboy I just judge games as I see them (I'm like the video game equivalent of a young Joe"firm but fair"Cortez) I just think as an FPS it was all very boring

someone I work with much prefers resistance 1 and 2 over kz2, I haven't played any of them but from my point of view resistance seems to have a more interesting premise than kz2.

They're quite different (as much as two fps' can be I suppose!) The resistance games feel like they'd be at home on a pc, as they're quite quick. KZ feels more real and in my opinion plays better too

That's exactly how I felt about it. It was a real struggle to finish it. Then I made the mistake of starting #2 straight after, and stopped playing after a few levels. I just couldn't do it anymore.

My advice for you would be to take a break between the two if you plan on playing both!

Bought KZ2 on release day and am still playing it today. The offline campaign is ok'ish but the Online is excellent. Really addictive (when theres no cheaters)

I don't think I can be bothered with the sequel now if it's worse than the first game, I'll give Killzone 2 a try instead.

i too started Resistance 2 ,but stopped to give Killzone a proper crack, in a few aspects i found resistance to be more impressive.
Killzone obviously had a lot of tech behind it , but was less fun really.
Would actually like them to do something different with the engine , i think it could do a horror type game really well, or some thing asthetically similar to portal or ,mirrors edge, love to see stained glass and cool visual effects and maybe something like hexan
i just think the greys and darkness have been seen rather a lot in the past fps's.
And must also add, i remember looking around in killzone at the bottom of some steps and thinking the textures here look only a micro smidgen better than the ps2 , (which is a bit lacking really, considering the extra grunt)

I play a lot of videogames and I have a lot of friends that play videogames and i do not think I have ever met anyone that has ever even played a Killzone game.

Hoping they sort out the controls for this one. If they do i'm looking forward to it.

I just hope they ditch the gobs**tes from 2 and you're either Luger or Hakha. And if feasibly possible, have someone to have saved Templar with the electric save people gun from multiplayer!

Hmm, an unusual opinion.

That said, I haven't tried Killzone but I did quite enjoy the first Resistance. Defo not more than an 8/10 if I'm honest...

I don't know if I'd say it was worse - although, as I said, I only played a few hours of it. It just seemed like more of the same, and I could not bring myself to play more of the same! I will probably go back to it at some point, but I have no desire to do so right now.

Killzone 2 is a better game I think.

Point well made. Let's all return to the Halo threads and start slagging off Killzone Rolling Eyes

On topic: If they manage to top the graphics of KZ2, they'll certainly have one of the best-looking shooters on their hands.

It does. And because I like FPS I was interested to see what Gamers thought of the impending sequel (KZ3). Sadly the thread had been hijacked in the first comment by PS3 f***yboy, one of the worst Trolls on this site. If you can show me where I trolled or slagged of KZ it would be much appreciated. Killzone 2 is an excellent game and one of the best FPS on any console at the moment, the big final push near the end of the game is one of the most exciting moments in recent gaming (more thrilling than any Commando moment in COD). Its premise of man vs his greatest enemy, his darker side, is a brilliant idea but improvements would need to be made on cinematics and scripting.

Resistance 2 I thought improved massively on the original (no voice overs, no 5 minute level skirmishes and some of its set pieces pushed PS3 tech beyond its rivals), I just hope Insomniac become a little more inspired by Half Life for the third outing rather than their other title, Ratchet and Clank.

Killzone 3 would be most welcome. I'd like to see better vehicle implantations, an RPG element to the weapons and character interaction and co-op!! Fingers crossed.

One thing to remember people is that KZ2 was supposed to be released around the same time that Resistance 2 was scheduled. Sony pushed them back to Feb of 2009 so that R2 would have time to shine.

The main problem was the Insomniac went extremely quiet for one month after release with very little communication to the public to only then release a big (and much needed) update around the release of KZ2. That hurt them big in my eyes.

I will get both games because I've followed both.

I think the 2nd post in this thread from ric is true, you are so sad.

Well I hope Rico is'nt a massive w****r in the third one and hopefully it will be set on vekta so it is'nt so dreary to look at and maybe they'll let you carry two guns instead of an assault rifle and that suck bottom pistol.
SICARIUS1 on 11 Feb '10
Well good'o i loved the multiplayer side of KZ2 and only recently stopped playing it.
This was due to the curse of numb feckers with no spine creating games with friendly fire switched off and radar permanently switched on, or the cursed radec only teamdeath match and the painfully sad sniper vs sniper matches on Pyrus Rise.
I hope the clan support, dev support, the fantastic stats boards, games customization are kept it all help make for a very good experience in the end.
I would like to be able to be able to turn off bots and turrets in KZ 3,i know many of the CVGT brethren found them a pain and also a chance to use that fine looking combat knife.
And finally stop telling the ISA side of the story lets go dark lets have the Helghast side of things. They are far more intresting than that annoying bunch of space marines.
I say no more w*nkers like Ricco as characters that fecker spoilt the campaign for me.
lawless1891 on 11 Feb '10
resistance is shite.

killzone 2 was pretty good. just dont like space marines or sci-fi themed games too much. plus the story was abysmal.

but the core game was solid and the way the enemies get caught standing up and riddled in a hail of bullets is impressive. instead of immediately slumping to the ground once they're dead.

I really don’t intend to keep stirring the pot – in fact it never really was my main objective!

killzone halo killer LaughingLaughingLaughingLaughingLaughingLaughing ps3_f***yboy like your bum chum hitmanbazza you are deluded, the total combined sales of the killzone series is 3.7 million thats not even half the amount that halo 3 sold, dam even halo odst made more than that in a week so thats not even knockout punch thats a tickle.

I'm surprised by some of the hate for Killzone 2, and not. Some of the arguments above are ridiculous, and have to remind myself this website is loaded with children.
I thought this game was simply outstanding, and unbelievably beautiful. I don't think any release since has surpassed it technically, and I find it's the only FPS that's actually a challenge to complete on the hardest mode!
I'm impressed with what Guerrilla produced in Killzone 2, it's pure quality. I'll expect the same in Killzone 3, and I'm actually interested in the next chapter in the story. Games rarely do that for me.
Killzone 2 for me stands out as a piece of art, I'm grateful at the efforts.
pepperman on 11 Feb '10
I just hope they don't rush kz3 and bring out killzone 2 with extra bits instead.

You mean a sequel? Or are you under the impression is not just the game that came before 'with extra bits'? xD

If they manage to top the graphics of KZ2, they'll certainly have one of the best-looking shooters on their hands.

What do you mean? Even if they only MATCH Killzone 2, they'll still have one of the best looking shooters on their hands wont they? Or has KZ2 suddenly become crap without me noticing it?

IMO even if the graphics engine doesn't improve much (like it needs to), as long as they have some more varied environments and a bit more colour (as was lacking in KZ2) then KZ3 will shape up to be just amazing to see.

I think a few things that would make KZ3 better are, as mentioned and echoed EVERYWHERE: colours, and physics. For me hte physics need to be a little more realistic, maybe its just me but I like physics realism.

Any announcements on major Sony titles will indefinitely be announced at E3 unless there is a Sony specific event beforehand.
