FIFA 11 won't drop the ball - EA

Peter Moore says dev team are too 'paranoid' to let standards drop
EA Canada is 'paranoid' about letting standards in its revitalised FIFA series slip - an attitude which will ensure that this year's iteration is yet another huge step forward for the franchise.

That's according to EA Sports boss Peter Moore, who told CVG this week that the hugely successful development team will "never get complacent" - and have already highlighted a number of things they wish to fix in the next game in the series.

Speaking in the first part of our exclusive interview, Moore said: "[The FIFA team] is about continued innovation in what we do, in particular taking a very critical look in the mirror. And when I say they're paranoid, I mean it.

"The team listens brilliantly to its fanbase - because it knows there's always things you can fix; always things you can do a little better. They will tell you they can do a lot better with Manager Mode [as seen in FIFA 10, for example] - and they will in FIFA 11."

You want paranoia, you got it: FIFA 10 is averaging a pretty impressive 91% on Metacritic whilst CVG itself rated the game at 9/10.

Click here to read Moore's account of how EA Canada realises 'one bad iteration' of FIFA could mean the end of its dominance - and about the respect the team has for Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer.

I'd like to see them reintroduce the 5 a-side indoor games from the 97-98 years. Them games were brilliant!

ya plz make individual players play like they do in real life and maybe I might keep the game longer than 3 weeks this time around.

Fifa 10 was too much like Fifa 09 for my liking, and certainly havent played it as much because of it. Havent had a match for a couple of months now and don't really feel inclined to return to it either.

I will prob get the Fifa world cup edition what with all the hype around the competition etc getting u in the mood, but getting Fifa 11 is looking very doubtful unless it feels like a different game to its previous incarnatins which doesnt seem likely.

YES! I loved that on fifa 98 road to world cup!

Have you even played both games? They are nothing alike.

They need to bring in the whole 'street' element into fifa, in my opinion. So you can yhave a mess around 2 vs 2 on a small concrete court, Nothing stupid. just player vs player.

i think they should try and get the fifa games looking as real as possible if even photo realistic alot of emphasis is put on playability which is definately a key factor but what of the graphics what is the point of having good gameplay when the graphics still look like playastation 2 come on sony point your stick at E.A and tell them how to make realistic graphics so i can send R.I.P cards to all my mates who went out and bouht an xbox360 fro christmas

NaththeNarc, I am totally with you. Fifa 09 very different to Fifa 10 and old school indoor football games rock.

If EA can improve one thing for FIFA 11 it must be better cheers and fan animations when your player scores. I love in fifa 10 how you see the fans rise to their feet when you score but still left with a damp squib sensation with regards to the noise. Anybody who loves football knows that when you go to a real game the cheers from a goal scored are f***king electric (This sensation must be achieved for FIFA 11) Crank up those decibels, give us a streaker, pitch invasion, fan riot, super super atmosphere please please please.

fifa in a nutshell
you want 10 features added from the previous game for next year to improve the game and they leave out 5, so you will by the title agian the following year.

yet still saying the same thing

fifa 10 is the best yet. surpassing fifa 04 and 98/99

but give us indoor football and bring back the invisable walls cheat.

They want to concentrate on fixing the bugs.
Fifa 10 and 9 before it are very good games but what annoyed me more than anything was to find the same bug in Manager mode freezing after games in Fifa 10 when there was ample time to fix it from Fifa 09.

Also why does your played team show incorrect league position at the start of the match. Again another bug not ironed out from Fifa 09.

This time I would like to see some attention to these things as it's a bit of a disgrace.
