Sega launches motion control console

Surely it's not that easy Sega?
Sega is preparing to launch another one of its one-off, mini-consoles that seem to do pretty well, except this one's a little different to the rest - it's got built in motion control. Looks familiar too...

Dubbed Sega Zone you get 20 classic Sega titles, like Alex Kid, Golden Axe, Sonic and Knuckles and Ecco the Dolphin and a further 30 titles, 16 being of the motion controlled variety, reports ,Pocket Lint

"Users will be able to control the action via two included wireless remote controls and when not playing Sega titles be able to play the usual array of sports classics like table tennis, darts, fencing, beach volleyball, and golf by waving the controller in front of the screen as they do with the Nintendo console," reports the site.

Sega Zone is due April for around fifty quid. What do you think? Has it got a chance against the big boys?

Well done Sega at least you know what your buying from the word go! A cheap Wii without all the shovelware or the possiblity of getting it! Only thing a Wii is good for is Wii Sports with mates.

Only thing a Wii is good for is
Super Mario Galaxy, New Super Mario Brothers, Super Paper Mario, Mario Kart, Metroid Prime Trilogy, Super Smash Brothers Brawl, Punch Out!!, Wario Land: Shake It!, Excite Truck, Excitebots: Trick Racing, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Okami, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, Pro Evolution Soccer, No More Heroes, Madworld, The Conduit, and some great NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, Master System, Megadrive, Neo-Geo, and Gamecube games.
I've left a few out, but consider your statement fixed.

Nice list, Kes. Looks like you've got it prepared for when you meet Wii haters.

But in all fairness, unless you count yourself as Cooking Mama's target audience, the list runs out fast. If you tried to list every worthwhile game on the 360, it'd take alot longer.

Actually, I didn't have that list prepared, but I may copy and paste it now for use in future discussions! Smile
It's a fair point you make, and I won't contradict it; my 360 collection is larger than my Wii collection.
I was simply disputing the "All the Wii is good for is one title" sentiment.
KesMonkey on 2 Feb '10
Let-down! Sad I got that moment where I read the article's title and really believed that the mighty, mighty Sega was returning to world-class top spot with a next gen console...

Instead it's ANOTHER re-hash of old games. Motion control support, although a blatant wii rip-off, is a nice touch, but it's not the console Sega are capable of. Stop letting us down Sega...

fair enough conduit is a awful game but no way the others r awful. they might be in ur opinion. the guy didnt even include no more heroes 2, tatsunuko vs capcom and little kings story. theres others too.
infernoxXx on 2 Feb '10
...Excite Truck. That game is awesome. I agree with the other boldies though Smile

On topic, any new Sega hardware is good news, even if it is just Mega Drive rehashes. Although that Blaze Mega Drive was awful - it plays about three of my old carts and won't even play Virtua Racing. Bah. The handheld was decent though, if only for S&K and Mean Bean Machine.

Sega going up against Nintendo?

Next you'll be telling me that Phillip Schofield got his old gig back in the broom cupboard.
altitude2k on 2 Feb '10
The Conduit was crap.
After Mario Galaxy and Zelda, there really was little for me to go back to, so I sold my wii and bought a PS3 instead. Never looked back!
FiltyMonkey on 2 Feb '10
i'm gonna go play on my dreamcast.
Obscure_Metaphor on 2 Feb '10
Damn it Sega! Just release a saturn console with loads of its best games included. The technology is 3 generations old, so you must be able to produice it so cheaply that you can make a profit?

Once that's done, I would also appreciate a new Dreamcast.
monty_79 on 2 Feb '10
i know it wont happen but id love sega to release a top spec console and just annihilate the other 3 cos i was pretty angry when sega got squashed out of the console market, loved my master system, megadrive and dreamcast....

A couple of those bolded games are very average, but none of them are awful. An awful game would be something like Ninjabread Man or Leisure Suit Larry.

I've made a few adjustments and also put backwards compatible games and last gen games re-released in bold:

Super Mario Galaxy, New Super Mario Brothers, Super Paper Mario, Mario Kart, Metroid Prime Trilogy, Super Smash Brothers Brawl, Punch Out!!, Wario Land: Shake It!, Excite Truck, Excitebots: Trick Racing, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Okami, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, [b]Pro Evolution Soccer, No More Heroes, Madworld, The Conduit, and some great NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, Master System, Megadrive, Neo-Geo, and Gamecube games.

I think the Wii is starting to show its lack of character without re-Mario games i.e Smash Bros, Mario Kart etc etc poor wee Wii
