Join CVG's Facebook fan page

Exclusive video, compos and office banter to come...
Are you a fan of CVG? Have you ever in our prestigious brand's 29 year history chuckled at a review or left an abusive comment on a news thread? Then you owe it to us and yourself to join the CVG Facebook fan page!

Kicking off the first part of our ambitious community plans, in the coming weeks our Facebook fan page will be home to exclusive insight, videos and competitions - plus top secret word on what's going on inside our ever-so-exciting London office.

We'll also be bringing our Facebook fans some very exciting - and much requested - content in the form of covers and content from old CVG magazine. We've got some excellent old Speccy adverts we're dieing to show you - and soon we will.

Soon your Facebook comments will also been included in our world famous This Week in Comments regular, so make sure you're every bit as witty and borderline sexist on our social network pages as you are here on CVG.

For now why not make yourself a fan, post up some comments and have a look at the treasure trove of random CVG photos that adorn our fan page.

We look forward to seeing you there.

So rather than actually sorting out your forums from the mess that they are you are outsourcing to Facebook by the look of it. Also, way to get with the times!

Forums are being dealt with as we speak. Anything you'll find on Facebook will be a bonus on top of the vanilla site content - keep smiling!

No thanks CVG.

It's bad enough that I come to this dump once a day & talk to the cretins that dwell here. f**ked if I'm going to let them see my real name, profile, photos etc. Rolling Eyes

Its a rule of mine that I don't join any website that allows me to be stalked by my mother. Sorry guys.
SICARIUS1 on 2 Feb '10
Yeah, maybe not the best idea. Razz

There are some right bloody crazies on here that I wouldn't want anywhere near my 'real' life. (I would imagine the feeling might be mutual in some cases)

And come on lads, we were first told the forums were being updated nearly 4 months ago now. I know you're busy, but jeez.

If the forums were a bit better I might consider the Facebook thing, but at the moment I would be worried that a certain few people might turn up at my house wielding axes or suchlike cos the banning process here is a joke.

I don't use Facebook because its full of c*nts. This place has its fair share of idiots (as I might appear to them as), but at least we're all anonymous on here and its good to have a bit of 'rivalry' banter without making it personal

I hate Facebook and all the losers it attract. I know where all my friends are and they can all contact me just fine without that

No

I do not have a facebook account and never will.

well hasn't this gone down well
Jellybeans on 2 Feb '10
It's doing ok, they have 208 fans already.

It makes me laugh when people complain about a free service (CVG or Facebook), especially when those same people use the service every day! Why all the moaning from people on here? Why does the forum need fixing? The moderators are doing a pretty good job at getting rid of spam at least. If you want to see a crappy forum try IGN.
yerbluesjohn on 2 Feb '10
I have no problem joining the group, or posting under my real name. Some people are plain paranoid!

You *can* stop people seeing your photos and stuff on facebook you know!
eltonbird on 2 Feb '10
Please fix the forums first cvg, recently I have noticed what appears to be an increase in speed and it is very much appreciated but I'd at least like to see some regular (perhaps weekly) updates on how the upgrade to php3 is going.
Athrun888 on 2 Feb '10
Yeah IGN is pretty bad, it's just the constant tease you know? Razz For ages we've heard about 'new tools' and 'updated software' but it never bloody happens. I dunno, I just wanna post pictures of our online Uncharted 2 sessions is all.

The Facebook thing'll be alright for some people, but the only thing I want on Facebook as that new Civilisation game that's apparently in development. Can't wait for that!
fanboy on 2 Feb '10
I don't know if there's a catch, but it sounds like cvg REALLY wants us to be fans of them.

What, are you a god dam rockstar or what.

Your arrogance doesn't suit you cvg!
Why have to be a fan, why not just a friend on facebook?

Turn off.

Totally agree, I also hate comming here reading sh*t from cretins like you a3HeadedMonkey.

So maybe you should stop visiting this site and do us all a favor? Wink

I have no problem joining the group, or posting under my real name. Some people are plain paranoid!

You *can* stop people seeing your photos and stuff on facebook you know!

You can stop it, but due to how Facebook resets privacy settings every time they make a significant change to their privacy policy, you'll need to be hot on your toes to make sure "fans" (or loonies in some cases) don't get a free pass to engage "S.T.A.L.K.E.R" mode. You can bet some of them look like they've just ventured out of Pripyat for the first time in 20 years.

It is of course up to you whether you care about defending yourself against the ugly & maimed, I prefer to do that in these CVG forums... Smile Defending your real life persona is your business and your right, but best remember that you don't speak for everyone. UK law states that people have a right to privacy and that if one seeks to retain it - then he / she is entitled to have it respected. On the given note that you make no such claims to privacy (e.g. printing your real name on Internet forums & such), you should best hope that you don't ever become a target for loonatics, swooning 15-year-old "Mixt" fan-girls or the media circus act that may someday (if you're very un?-lucky) follow you around from England to Timbuktu - Sir! Wink

Oh and no thanks CVG, you can always choose to follow LordVonPS3 on Twitter if you like - or take a peep from time-to-time as the will takes you! Laughing
